How much does HBC pay this guy
interesting link from the "Evening Telegraph ", I'm just curious how you set a pay scale for this king of job, what kind of smell is emitted from his exhaust , and is the guy permitted/provided shower facilities before going home , know times are hard , but think I would be double gagging if I had to do this job
Hyndburn's new super dooper pooper scooper (From Lancashire Telegraph)
and is the guy allowed to switch the machine from 'suck' to 'blow' when confronted by yobs ...

Re: How much does HBC pay this guy
I remember seeing similar machines in France thirty years ago. As I suppose no Parisian was going to bend down themselves to scoop up their little rat's mess themselves.
It seems a shame we need someone doing this job in Hyndburn. I'm much rather he went around looking at who was responsible for their dog's dirt, and issuing fines, rather than spending his time, head down, sucking up their muck.
Anyone found guilty of this crime should have this guy shoving his nozzle through their letterbox, and emptying the machine all over the interior of their homes.

No, but i think he should be allowed to blow it at irresponsible dog owners.
It's absolutely ridiculous that we need to employ someone like this in the borough but omg do we need him. And, if you think we don't need him, try going down Mayfield Avenue every morning to get to St Mary's school for a start.
It's a cash strapped council and we have to pay someone to do something that all dog owners should be doing for themselves. I hope that machine does have a 'blow' feature.

Re: How much does HBC pay this guy
It is disgraceful tht we need to employ somebody to clean dog mess up, just another indication of the kind of society we live in. The lazy dog owners should be hit with a damn big fine if caught letting their pet foul and not cleaning it up.
Don't know what wage he earns Steeljack but you can bet it is not a top one, should imagine it to be what other street cleaners get paid. I'll tell you something I wouldn't like the job.

Seem to remember that many of the streets in Paris were fitted with taps on the edge of the pavements (chaucers...Lancashire term ? ) where when the shopkeeper swept the pavement (flags) the garbagé was washed away, at least in the 6th arrondissement

Re: How much does HBC pay this guy
And before all the responsible dog owners have a go at me - I know that there are a lot of you about. I know that many, many, many dog owners clear up after their dogs. But a good few don't!

Know for a fact I couldn't do it , hope the guy is on a special rate (dealing with toxic waste etc. toxiopalsmosis and stuff comes to mind ) and not some poor sucker who has been forced into the job due to threat of loss of benefits etc.
maybe an 8 hour shift on the machine for all recent graduates in the HBC employ could be part of the Council induction program .

Re: How much does HBC pay this guy
some pillock near me lets his dog out to roam around for 30 mins or so to allow it to have a dump in somones garden then it wanders off home
i ring up the dog warden hoping to get the dog taken away so as to get the owner a nice big bill for recovering his dog but as of yet the warden has never turned up
may have to resort to following the dog home and slinging their dogs dirt at their windows or through their letterbox
less people employed picking up dog dirt and more people recovering pets left to roam and crap everywhere
dont get me started on verminous cats i darnt mow my garden for all the sh1t literally hitting the preverbial fan if i do
paracetamol and tuna i hear is a good cat deterant though

Re: How much does HBC pay this guy
Knew somebody in Rishton who had a dog dumping just outside their back door. They collected it up and took it back to the owner, it never happened again. People that can't clean up after their dog shouldn't have one simple.
