Re: Hunt On For Missing Toddler

it was a very weird experience, was in town when the lad went missing, but didn't know at the time... back at work, we heard the helicopter flying overhead and have to say its the first time I have heard announcements made from a helicopter. It was hovering over the town centre announcing the little lad had gone missing and what he looked like and was wearing...very pro-active on the police's part I must admit. I was racking my brain if I had seen a small boy go past me when I was down there but couldn't remember seeing anything...

Just glad he was found... in defence of the bus driver, if the little lad walked on behind an adult he would've presumed he was with them, it is more on the bus I think it is strange that no one commented on who the lad was with!!!

Emily is nearly 3 and I can't imagine her sitting still on a bus on her own and not being noticed? Children of that age don't have a long concentration span. I am so surprised (& relieved) that he was not involved in an accident or he was not upset and confused at some point?

It is ages since I have seen a child on reins, the most recent thing I have seen used is a thing fastened to mum/dads wrist and then onto the childs. Put me in mind of a dog on a lead but anything is better than nothing. In fact bet you don't find many places selling reins now

well i may be out of touch with such things, but i think it would be a very sensible move in this day n age.

Re: Hunt On For Missing Toddler

my reasoning is when a nippers out with only 1 adult, then as harwood red says, ya take yer eyes off em for a second n they can nip off, too much traffic these days n too many bad buggers about. if out with 2 not a problem 1 can always hold its hand.

Re: Hunt On For Missing Toddler

Omg if this child has travelled on a bus on his own how the hell hasnt a member of public suspected something, or are we now a country that walks around with our eyes closed? this really beggers belief .
As for reins mums dont see them as trendy these days. Its much better to have baby in a hoody and baseball cap than to keep it in reins

Was going to say reins aren't trendy but what fashion has got to do with keeping your child safe is beyond me

Re: Hunt On For Missing Toddler

All mine wore reins when they could walk and didnt want the pram anymore.
It was a damn site better than running around the supermarket for them or running up the road. I had to go down to the council office the other day and a dad was at the desk and his little girl were running all over the place , she were only about 3yrs and the doors were wide open leading onto a busy road and the child kept running to the door.
I cringed. Not to mention all the completer strangers that were in there that could have had her a way in seconds.

Oh and just for the record i wasnt referring to all mums.
