Re: Hyndburn Borough Council's new website
It said in the musuems month section that Patrick Troughton was coming to Haworth Art Gallery. Imagine my disappointment to find it`s not the former Doctor Who, but a Rishton based artist.

Re: Hyndburn Borough Council's new website
Spelling errors – I presume it should be Consultation, not Consiltation
The Sound festival hasn’t been held for about three years so it’s a bit behind the times to say the council is involved with it.
Who wrote this ‘A full time presence is provided….’ in the information about Rhyddings Park?
I’m sorry but I think you’re stretching it when you put ‘hedges’ and ‘herbaceous borders’ as features of interest in a park – isn’t that sort of standard stuff in a park?
Rhyddings Park is not in the list of parks on the side menu bar
The next date of meeting for Oswaldtwistle Area Council says March 7th.
In fact all of the dates for the next area council meetings are in either 2005 or early 2006.
Where there are lists of links, surely it would help to put things in an alphabetical order.
Information and Communication link doesn’t take you anywhere.
Nothing about the Councillors and how to contact them anywhere.
Exactly what public art work is HBC involved with?

That's what I said about Hyndburnlife and was told that it had been created by professionals and was maintained by them and not by HBC.
Then I contacted the "professionals" in question to point out some of the failings which the mods on the site refused to accept - you know, the real basic stuff like inability to register or log-in - and I was told that it was my browser's fault and that I had no business tracing them to complain anyway as they had better things to do than talk to members of the public!

Re: Hyndburn Borough Council's new website
Oh it's even funnier than Hyndburnlite the more you look at it.
Have you seen this page?
I've looked at it with a couple of different browsers. Firefox users might find it slightly amusing The cells are slightly up the creek. I might venture to suggest that the creator has only viewed it with IE.
Then there's the 'health well-being and care' link that only leads you to links about benefits - there's a 'health well-being and care' link on the top of the page but all you get by clicking on that is the same page again!
Now what other jolly fun things have we got on there I wonder? There's a feedback form. Do you suppose there's any point telling them about these problems or do you think I'll get a similar response to the ones I got when I tried to inform them about the problems with Hyndburnlife - ie "We see no problems, therefore there are no problems."

Re: Hyndburn Borough Council's new website
Thing is... the template engine used for this and hyndburnlife and other localarea/life sites.. Its a pile of tripe .. This is what I do know and this is what I have been involved with for about 15 years and without showing off I can tell you I most certainly do know what I am talking about. Its at best sub standard. It doesn't meet any best practice and certainly doesnt pass any w3c or simple accesibility tests ..it doesnt validate and has over 100 errors on the first page.... and it can leave anyone using it open to prosecution under as previously stated.. section 5 of the disability act
Saying still under construction is a very lame and poor attempt to avoid prosecution under the disability act and to be used as an excuse if anyone complains... As such you can expect the under construction/not ready yet sign to be a permanant fixture.

That's the one I looked at with the lovely trees and no roads marked except the M65 and Hyndburn Road.
It's more cryptic than a crossword, and I wish anybody using it the very best of luck.

Re: Hyndburn Borough Council's new website
Is the blue bit the gently lapping waters of lake Windermere perhaps?

I thought it was meant to be the railway line. Perhaps someone from HBC would care to enlighten us.
