Poor Mr Britcliffe. He will lose some of his £46000 income. My heart bleeds.

Re: Hyndburn Local Elections - 5th May
Well done Ken and to Labour, lets see if you can do any better.
Glad festers gone, but then who isn't.
Shame there was only a 44% turnout, and even less for the referendum. Maybe voter apathy is something out elected members should try to tackle.

My advice is to get Miles to put an immediate block on all the Tory spend, spend, spend proposals, ask Management Team for an update on spending and savings, (by first thing Monday morning) and seek an early meeting with the external auditors to discuss the extent of the problem.
Otherwise the proverbial will hit the fan in 9 months time.

Predictable really, as voters saw it for the utter cynical ploy that it is - a bribe to the Libdems, paid for by the taxpayer.
However, now he's got in the referendum habit, perhaps Cameron would like to hold one on our membership of the EU? I can guarantee there'd be a very large turnout for that!

I would skip over broken glass and hot coals to vote in a referendum on the EU.

So would a lot of people, Margaret, but that's why neither the Tories nor Labour will ever hold one - they might see real democracy in action and we wouldn't want that would we?

No, he won't.
That was a combined figure, including his L.C.C. expenses.

Steve, I have always said that if voting changed anything, they(the powers that be) would stop us from doing it....and that saying proves the point doesn't it?
They don't want us to be voting on the EU so they deny us that choice.

Re: Hyndburn Local Elections - 5th May
I am a bit confused (OK it's early am) about the election results.
I do not see PB's name mentioned in the results table.
Did he stand or was his ward not due for an election? Which ward did he represent apart from the "Peter Britcliffe want to be King" ward.
I am not very well up in politics. Can some one explain to me how he became the Council leader and apparently is no longer.
