Re: Hyndburn Mayor in crash.
aye, hope he's OK but look on the bright side its one less Prius on the roads, perhaps we can now get back to driving a proper car that hasn't cost the earth in rare metals and REALLY dangerous emissions to make.
From an environmental end 2 end POV a large gas guzzling exec car is MUCH better than the psuedo green thing we've just lost.

Re: Hyndburn Mayor in crash.
err, I wished him well and these accidents happen all over the country. I had it myself in 199 and on my bike in 2003 which resulted in a broken back. He is not seriously injured from all the articles I've seen. He'll be a bit sore for a while but thats all.
what is it with AW now that you can't have multiple threads out of a subject..

Re: Hyndburn Mayor in crash.
Mayoral Car? If the Mayor had any sense , he would have caught a bus, got on his bike or just walked and set an example to the rest of the people of Hyndburn, And saved a few bob at the same time.

They are doing away with the mayoral car.
The next Mayor has been promised a golden sedan chair, carried by two Tory lackeys, dressed up as blackamoors.

The next mayor?
Honestly, use his proper name if you're going to predict the future....or is that one a little too easy?

I didn't want to tempt fate by naming him.
A week's a long time in politics.
He might get too excited by the thought of donning the mayoral chains of office, and have a giddy turn before being sworn in.

Good..then that probably confirms the rumour I've heard... that you will be preceding any mayoral procession as the Town Cryer. I must say, you'd look very good in your pit helmet/tricorn hat, womens stockings and fancy shoes with buckles on.
