I think even Britcliffe can now see, after much public opposition, that it would cost too much, and there'd be absolutely no benefits to those of us living in Hyndburn, and paying for it.
Also, according to this weekend's press there seems to be a groundswell of opinion agasinst the town council idea. Mainly because there is too little information as to what they would, and wouldn't, be responsible for, and we'd be paying more council tax for the privilege, which were the main concerns voiced on here.
Why aren't things properly planned out and costed?
Probably because it's not their money.
It's that magic public money, that apparently grows on trees.

Re: Hyndburn to be axed.
What I think they should do now is encourage everyone to use Hyndburn in our postal addresses.
They make a huge point of it in Rossendale - it doesn't matter which town you come from you put Rossendale in your address.

Can only imagine will be brought out of the cupboard to blow the dust off when Hyndburn are more liquid and in a state of Utopia , and councilors twiddling their thumbs wondering what they can spend their huge bank balance on .. yes, pipe dream.

I think the council should send out a leaflet to every home on this issue before its finally nail in a coffin

The title Rossendale is the official postal address Gayle, When I lived in Haslingden my address was Blackburn Road, Haslingden, Rossendale, Lancashire then the post code. To officially have Hyndburn in our address the GPO would have to be consulted.

Using Hyndburn in the address won't really promote the area.
It's the political name of the borough, no more no less.
Living in BB5 3--, I shall continue giving my address as Oswaldtwistle, Accrington, which is my correct postal address.
Don't forget there are parts of Hyndburn which don't fall under the Accrington postcode.

Re: Hyndburn to be axed.
Instead of wasting money on artificially contrived campaigns to get a nationally unknown name recognised, why not just change it to a well-known name...like Accrington?

Belthorn, Knuzden, Rishton, are BB1. Great Harwood is BB6. All of who are in, or part in Hyndburn, but whose correct postal address is Blackburn.
Adding Hyndburn to the address is totally unnecessary.

Living in BB5 I'm quite happy to promote Accrington in my address, as it happens to be the correct thing to do.
It also ensures any death threats/fan mail, doesn't go astray.
