Just because you came up with this one, I'm thinking of history as an infinite regression to a singularity That's painful ... esp. when I'm nursing a level three hangover

I think the biggest thing for me that I miss is the people. The salt of the earth kind, the kind that would do anything for anybody. I love the Northern humour you know anything for a laugh humour.
For you locals would you move if it was an option and for those that have moved away do you regret it.
Short answer from me: I would leave England now .... if I could: the country's gone to the dogs:

Re: I am often asked....

accrington has changed so much from when i first moved there .it used to be a nice little town now it is full of druggie junkie scum and other undesirables .i feel sorry for the decent people that are left, all this could have been avoided if the council said no to the bail hostels and shut down maundy relief years ago sorry it must sound harsh but its the truth.also if largest local employer never invited those from eastern europe who we have no idea what they have done in their own country, they could be anybody or anything,or if the local school never put up a fence to make the end of my street look like a prison, i might still be there .

I hope to be off to Obamaland if they'll ever deem me 'skilled' and 'professional' enough

Either there or off to the homeland of Eire

Re: I am often asked....

would I go/come back , Nah , happy enough here in California , lots of things wrong with the place (life is nothing like you see on television) but from what I read about the UK , both here on Accy web and on the British press websites I think I'm better off here.

But if I was a young-un starting out in life again I think I would try to head for New Zealand , the place has it's problems like everywhere else , but its the best/ most civilized place I've been too so far . One thing to remember though , where ever you go , you have to live by their rules and their lifestyles , forget about comparing everything to how it is/was in the UK , theres a good reason the Australians have the saying "whinging poms"

Re: I am often asked....

If I manage to get the career that i am finally working towards then i'll be deemed 'skilled' enough almost anywhere.

If I was to move abroad my first choice would be New Zealand then USA then Canada. I've nothing against Canada I just dont like snow!!! lol. But I wouldnt move that far anyway I couldnt take Harry away from his Grandparents, Great Grandparents & Uncles. I'd move down to Cornwall went on holiday there last year and completely fell in love with the area!

funnily enough Lolly, Cornwall was my choice years ago, then i priced everything up, was too expensive, so Spain was our second choice.
