They know your name and phone number because more often than not it is in the ‘book’. Or you could get one that starts:
“Mr Jones?” when your name is something else.
Far too many people will answer no it’s …………and give their real name.

If anyone rings me and asks for me by name or the name of someone else I NEVER answer the question but ALWAYS come back with, “Who is speaking?” all polite and innocent like.

Then depending on who it is or how I feel at the time they get told to go away or …. Well you put your version in here.

My phone number is not in any books or is even in my name, that keeps a lot of time wasters off your back, another one is answering the phone with an abrupt "we dont need any", also "this call is being recorded for training purposes" any one who's really bothered phones again.

I’d like to see some torag nick my telly. It’s only a 27” wide screen one but boy is it heavy. It took my son and adult grandson to lift it onto its stand. I was stood back directing operations.

I dread having to get one of those new fangled plasma sets when eventually my current set dies. I’ll have to nail it down.

That actually happened to us - they must have scarpered when the burglar alarm went off and they left us with a Sony Walkman - still playing, and a hacksaw. The police found it vey amusing, a robbery where the victim ends up better off.

That was slick slinky! I must admit I too burn most of my significant papers and mailings. I'm not quite sure what is worst, burning the small bit down to a small pile of ash or sending it off to clog up the landfills. or worst yet, the dumping station hauling it all off to be incinerated up the road.

I only shred parts of any document that has my details on it......and I bought a very dinky little manual shredder for a quid......it is perfectly fine for the job......it takes ages to build up enough to send a parcel.....then it is someone else's rubbish to dispose of.

I frequently have phone calls asking for Mr Rashid, or Mr Iqbal...and when i say that no-one exists by that name at this address...they ask to speak to the person that the house belongs to....then they ask if we have a mortgage.......I always say YES....then they ask for the details and I ask for them to hold the line while I go and get them...then I put the phone on 'silent' and go and make a cup of tea....after a variable length of time I go and put the handset down.
