Cool I Don’t Want To Worry Anyone But ….

In a nutshell hackers have got hold of hundreds of thousands of names, addresses and other personal details like passwords. You can only surmise why.

Oh! But that's an American ‘job’ web site so we are OK over here.

There is a UK version at www.monster.co.uk

Unfortunately humans are creatures of habit, they tend to use teh same uername/passwords all over teh place. hence a userid and password for someone on monster.com is likely to be the same as their userid on eBay/paypal etc and as such they are at risk of fraud

Ah, but perhaps you lack imagination? What may seem to be a 'useless' thing to you could be the start of someone emptying your bank account! It is better to be warned, (as Jambo' has tried to do), than cry about it when you find your life savings have disappeared because you lost you identity, just because you thought it doesn't matter.

It's frightening, isn't it? I love the internet and wouldn't like to be without it.I have that Norton thing on my pc to prevent viruses.I once received an email from ebay telling me to change my password asap because someone had hacked into my account. It was reassuring that ebay were on to it so quick but worrying that whoever it was had managed to get into my account in the first place.I changed my password and have had no trouble since but it's still a worry.

I would be very warey about any email saying change you password Ect.

these are usually the biggest scams going for password nicking (SP).

Infact I would log back in NOT VIA ANY LINK PROVIDED BY EMAIL and re set it again.

Most ebay / Bank Emails Re Passwords are FAKE.

as mrd says be wary of e-mails, also NEVER click on any link in an e-mail about your password or details.

Good advice.Luckily I had heard about these fake emails...another worry lol,so I didn't just take it from the email in case the email was not genuine. If ebay have sent you a genuine message then it will be in your 'my messages' section under 'my ebay'.In my case that's where I found the information that my account had been hacked into so the message was genuine in this instance
If you receive an email claiming to be from ebay and it doesn't also appear in your 'my ebay' section then you know it's a fake email.
