Re: if this guy is guilty there is no justice

What should happen now is to have HER name and photo published.

I have heard that the judge can direct this - but don't expect it in this case because she is a lawyer

Re: if this guy is guilty there is no justice

Here we go again and each of these cases make the rape statistics look even worse
"A businessman was cleared of raping a university student today after jurors were shown video footage of their sex session.

Gary Taylor, 41, was accused of attacking the 27-year-old woman after turning up at her flat with cocaine and a bottle of red wine.

The woman, who can't be identified for legal reasons, told jurors that Mr Taylor forced her to perform a sex act on him and then raped her in her living room.

But during cross-examination she was shown footage Mr Taylor had taken on his mobile phone during the encounter on September 26, 2008."

the bloke that i know spent 4 months behind bars awaiting sentence...he was named and shamed for no reason and she kept her anonimity

i think i know the bloke, moved away afterwards if i remember rightly

The fact that she woke up with this guy still in bed next to her spoke volumes, if he had raped her he'd have been away long before she came round from her drunken stupor. The only losers in all this is are the tax payer and the poor sod who's had is name dragged through the mud for no good reason, just to placate the conscience of some drunk woman who can't control her obviously out of control drinking problem. The sooner the law is change, to withhold the name of a suspect until he's found guilty, the better, after all its still the law of the land that your innocent until proved guilty, but not for men in rape cases, it stinks and does nothing to help genuine rape victims
dont the name the bloke incase he has raped or tried to before and the woman has been too scared to come forward? but i do think they should withhold naming him till after he is found guilty and then if anyone comes forward they can try him then.

In this country your innocent until proven guilty, unless your accused of rape, you must also remember that a persons past record is not allowed in evidence in any trial. I would have no problem the accused being named in a rape case, if, after he is found not guilty, his accusers name is published, but as the law stands neither should be name.

it must be awfull been accused of a sex crime and been innocent

women who cry rape are just as bad as those women who claim their children have been interfered with just to gain attention

innocent people end up either getting assualted or badgered out of tehir homes just because one pathetic woman either wanted revenge, a reason for been unfaithfull or just to gain some attention by telling a lie so terrible that people dont question it at first

liek others have said a verdict of guilty shoud be given before any names are released

bit of a wander , but it strikes me as odd that the woman who was raped by the chap who later won the lottery had her identity protected at the time , but now that there my be a few £s going around there is no problem with her name being in the media .
