Re: If you could Teleport to anywhere....
I am reminded of a question that was asked in Stephen King's The Dead Zone. I would teleport back to the moment and place Adolf Hitler was born. Now the question arises: should I kill the baby Hitler? What would you do?

Re: If you could Teleport to anywhere....
Michael I would give Mr. Hitler, Senior, THE snip BEFORE he and his missus did the dirty deed so that Adolf wasn't even conceived. That way the question of what to do would never arise.

Cashie, although we really can't have past time back again we can be grateful for lovely memories. Some people are not that fortunate.

No, on the face of it this may seem to be a bad answer considering what he did, but think about it. Had europe & the world not been thrown into turmoil of WW II between 39-45 the world as we know it wouldn't exist.
Would it have been any better had Hitler never been? I doubt it, there were others just as willing to take up the reigns of nationalist sentiment in Germany. The oppresion of Stalinism through Russia & the eventually siding of Russia with the "Allies" wouldn't have happened had the Germans "Op Barbarossa" not occured. Communist China & the rise of Mao Tse-tung would've continued unabated had the Chinese not stopped to fight Germanys "Axis" partners the Japanese who also brought the Americans into the fighting on our side because of their actions. All these & other events were influenced by the course Adolf Hitler took.

Re: If you could Teleport to anywhere....
Hi Ossy Kid,
Isles of Scilly! This was a great place for me also. As a kid I went there on a regular basis between 1953 and 1959 with Christ Church scouts. This was our regular place for holidays. Must admit I would like to visit there again, but never seem to get around for a trip.
Cheers

Re: If you could Teleport to anywhere....
I think this thread has (sort of) shown that each of us has the power to return in our minds to the places that gave us the happiest times.
We may not be able to physically travel there, but mentally we can. This is our own kind of time machine...teleporter if you like.
Obviously this does not permit travel into the future, but then, I am not sure that it is a place I really want to go to.
With modern technology it is also possible to visit places that we are unlikely ever to go to, either for financial reasons or the fact that we do not want to do the packing, the flying, the waiting in line at airports etc.
We can see the sunrise on a tropic isle....we can see the majesty of the Taj Mahal, we can travel down the canals of Venice in a Gondola(without the pong)...we can visit any place we want...with a good brew of tea in our hand, and the thought of our own comfy bed when it is time to lay down our head.
There will be no Delhi Belly, Rangoon Runs, we will not be eaten alive by mozzies with clogs on...the downside?....well, you tell me.

Re: If you could Teleport to anywhere....
Hi Everyone, been busy these last few weeks so haven’t been able to contribute but back now. I like this thread. Firstly teleport anywhere? To be truthful I don’t know. Every time I think of somewhere I always think of somewhere better. Time travel well that’s a different ball game. Would I go back and pop Adolf. No because the effect would change our world as we know it and probably not for the better. If you find this topic interesting read In Time by Ben Elton where an SAS man goes back to kill the guy who shot Frank Ferdinand in 1814 to stop WW1. Think about this. You go back in time and kill your grandfather when he is a child. He didn’t have children and so you were never born therefore you couldn’t go back and kill him!!! And what would be the consequences of going back and changing significant events. Telling Buddy Holly to take the train. John and Jaquie to put the roof up. Gerald Ratner don’t tell people your jewellery is crap etc etc.

Re: If you could Teleport to anywhere....
BJ....no one has said you can only Teleport the once....you can go to as many places as you want...But tell us why, give us your reasons.
As for your reasoning about future time travel...that is one of my reasons not to go forward....just to go back and visit my past....see if there were things that might have made me see things the way I do.

Re: If you could Teleport to anywhere....
Like many others I'am researching our family tree. So if possible I would love to go back in time, so I could put faces to the names of the family l've found.

Re: If you could Teleport to anywhere....
first .. back to before my dads mum and dad died so I could meet them ... my mum never met them they'd already died before she met my dad .. second .. to when I was 18 before my dad died .. id spend more time and question him on his memories and take notes ... third id go to Canada as well cashy .. and travel from one side to the other ... dropping in on montreal, visit the Niagara falls from the Canadian side, Quebec and then go up the coast to Alaska ... then go to America .. and do the route 66 ... then go to japan roundabout this time of the year they have cherry blossom festival have you seen the video on the bbc website .. it looks lovely ... then down to new Zealand and go and see where they filmed the lord of the rings .. then up to china and see the terracotta army and the pandas and peking and the great wall of china, then down to base camp on Everest .. I wouldn't want to go to the top ..that's high enough for me .. the taj mahal in india, and then Burma to see my uncles name (id like to have met him before he went to war) and then back to home .. think that's enough to be going on with ...

Re: If you could Teleport to anywhere....
Jen, that is a journey and a half.
All of those places sound like the places I would like to go to...purely for touristy reasons...and to take photographs.
That would be wonderful...
I would also like to do The Sydney Bridge climb.
When I was in Oz, I could have done it then, but there was no-one who would do it with me....and these kind of experiences are always better shared.
I would like to visit the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona.
I would also go back in time and go with Ma and Nessa to scatter my Dad's ashes in Ronda.
I wish that scientists would hurry up and get on with making a teleporter.

Re: If you could Teleport to anywhere....
I would like to go back to when the Wears from Scotland won over a hundred million pounds on the lottery. I would have liked to be the one in front of them when they purchased the ticket

Re: If you could Teleport to anywhere....
Hi All, Margaret this is for you.
1957. Rough Lee Maternity Home. To say hi to Janice my elder sister I never got to meet.
1959. Accrington. To meet my grandfathers both of who made it through four years in the trenches without a physical scratch. I would do some serious note taking.
1989 and 1993. Tell my mum and dad, thanks and they did a great job as parents, also sorry for being a complete Richard Head during my early teens. (Hormones running riot).
1947. Roswell. Just to see what really crashed.
1963. Dallas on the grassy knoll to see who else was there.
1969. The Sea Of Tranquillity. Go BOO! as Neil Armstrong comes down the ladder
1912. Have dinner on the Titanic the night before she sank. (Obviously not the night she sank as I may not get to the cheese and biscuits)
Go back to my wedding and renewal of vows ceremonies. My wife still takes my breath away after all this time. ( Luckily I can usually get the pillow off just in time)
2018 Friday 20 September. Purchase the 121 million pound winning lottery ticket.
