Re: I'm not complaing but .....
Every school gets around 2 weeks off at Christmas, I think it's the fact that Christmas & New Year were weekends that makes it feel like they weren't 'proper holidays' and should therefore have more time off.
If that makes sense.

Re: I'm not complaing but .....
I meant the main nights out ie Christmas eve and New Years Eve were on weekends.
Christmas day & New Years Day are just hangovers. They don't count

The school year has always had a set number of days which runs from 1st Sept to 31st Aug.
Whats Hyndburn Education Council ? I thought all education was county council run ?

Re: I'm not complaing but .....
There is no such beast as Hyndburn Education Council.
School years have to have a certain number of days. The way the holidays are slotted in can vary. Sometimes teacher training days are tagged on to hols so the kids get a longer holiday but they don't actually get more days off as the TTDs would have been at another time otherwise.
Some years they may not have started the holiday as early.
Sometimes there are exceptions such as when Moorhead was having its building work done and they hadn't finished before the school year started.

Yes actually, to me it does. The turkeys barely cold, I'm still cleaning party poppers up, I've still got a hang over and I felt the need to take down the Christmas decs today because they were back at school so early.

Re: I'm not complaing but .....
Even though my girls go back today the trimmings aren't coming down till weekend. It's still the Christmas season. Some people only have 2 days off work but they don't just decorate for 2 days. I refuse to have my Christmas truncated by the education authority!

I'm pleased the schools are back today, the earlier the better, couldn't wait to get the tree down and get back to normal.
