Re: In Friday's Observer (28 October)

The photograph of Peter Britcliffe, in his giving up cigarettes diary, looks like he needs oxygen.

Have a fag Peter, you know you want to.

Yes and guarantees that he'll be in the paper every week for the next three months - that's a good boost to his election campaign.

What with Gayle's reply to the pit bull letter, as well as the photograph of Neil, Romps, baby Emily, and Peter Brticliffe all smiling holding a big cardboard key at Rhyddings Park gates, it was a really good issue.
But no Oswaldtwistle Players review from last week.

No, that was mean.

Don't worry, if PB's seen in the Rose and Crown having a sly fag, I'll be there to catch him with my camera, and put an end to his stunt.

That's it, I obviously need a stunt that can get me in the paper every week........... or alternatively, I can just fight the campaign on policies and get out and talk to people face to face.

What part of Oswaldtwistle is covered by St Andrew's ward? I've just been on HBC's site and there isn't a detailed map.

Re: In Friday's Observer (28 October)

Roughly - It stretches all along Union road, but only on one side - the nature reserve side - then on the other side it goes from the railway station to stonebridge lane and up to the park - it stops at the terraced houses on Fielding Lane.

So it's kind of a big circle area from the railway station with a long thin arm attached to it which goes along the bottom part of Union Rd, including the houses behind Union Rd on that side.

Hope that makes sort of sense.

You could perhaps get a weekly report printed along the lines of I'm starting smoking campaign.

At great sacrifice to yourself so that you know what it is like for the people that are caught by the addiction to nicotine rather than abandon them in their hour of need (as a certain councillor has done), you are endevoring to understand how smoking effects the wants of all smokers of Hyndburn not just within the area of the ward that you will be successfully fighting!

Yes, I've spoken to Mervyn about it and it'll probably be in next week - they were short of space this week.

Sorry, I'll do almost anything for my constituency but that's one thing I won't do. I'll tell you what though, as a concession to you, I'll not introduce a total ban on smoking in Oswaldtwistle when I win!
