Incident near Accrington Railway Station

When I returned from preston mid afternoon there were alot of police on the preston bound platform at the bottom of the footbridge and although you could access the platform you couldn't exit onto Eagle Street or the pathway that runs behind the old skill centre

anybody heard anything?

Re: Incident near Accrington Railway Station

I saw that too. This morning, I was getting the 9:06 train into blackburn, the path behind the preston platform was taped off and there was quite a police presence. They seemed to be interested in something just behind the fence. I couldn't see anything though... On the way back at about 2, the whole platform was taped off with Soco tape and there was a VERY heavy police presence. The police weren't letting anybody over the bridge onto eagle street... I hope nothing really nasty has happened!

Yes, it's on teletext that the body of a man in his 50's was found on a path next to the platform, says at the moment police are not treating the death as suspicious and they are examining cctv footage

Thought it might be a death, one of the staff saw lots of police in the white paper suits, never a good sign !

I'm puzzled by this quote in the paper:
Quote:
"To find a body lying at the train station is shocking but unfortunately is a sign of the times."
How is it a sign of the times? We have no idea as yet how this man died. He may have had a heart attack, stumbled and fallen. It's a dark area and unless someone was actually walking past they wouldn't see him.

Very sad but so far the police have said it's not suspicious.

possibly meant that as the poor sods body was there overnight, would have been found sooner if the station was manned as it used to be.

Re: Incident near Accrington Railway Station

I'm not altogether clear exactly where he was. Would any station be manned 24 hours though? If he'd fallen there late at night even on a manned station he might not have immediately been noticed.

Looks like his name could be Andy Buczynski. The Andy Buczynski I know is a small chap who used to work at Hollands Pies, he also worked behind the bar in Bold Street & Stanley Street Clubs.
