inflation

OK the idea of putting interest rates up is to stop people wildly spending wlly-nilly.

But a lot of shopping in December must surely have been one-offs on account of Christmas but the main thing I don't understand is why they include the rising cost of fuel bills and in winter people using more gas and electricity because it's darker for longer and colder. People can choose to use less and put up with being cold but they can't control the providers putting their prices up.

Re: inflation

The real cause of inflation is the greedy utilities upping prices when they have been buying their products cheaper, this is to satisfy the greed of their investors who will have to take a cut in dividend when the demand in warmer times will be less. They will then lower their prices because consumers will not require their product. We are already witnessing pay demands in the public sector, transport and airlines, this will fuel inflation and increase interest rates yet again, and we will then be on a merry go round, going nowhere.
