Interviews

...the utter hell that they are.

I've just had an interview over the phone for Royal Bank of Scotland and it went terrifically arse over tip. Lot's of 'errrr's and silences which seemed to drone on for a lifetime. Fun fun.

Any hellish interview stories out there to pull me out of my miserable little hole?!

Re: Interviews

most people forget that teh interviewer is only afer finding out if your good enough for teh job. i do quite a few interviews and TBH all I care about is

can they do teh job
Can they communicate with normal humans ( and sometimes I'm not even bothered about that, I employed one lad who is a major intellectual, total geek and can rhyme greek mythology at a drop of a hat. I wanted him for doing those horrible geek level detail jobs that we get. He's ace at that sort of stuff.)

Once you are past this point its then just a straight 'race' between you and teh others who pass as to who teh interviewer thinks will fit in best to their plans and that is something that is out of your control.

Best thing in an interview is just be honest and decisive. I'd rather employ someone who Said " I don't know but i know how to find out " than someone who makes it up.

Re: Interviews

I have conducted many interviews and would fully endorse what Entwisi has said.

Preparation is the true key to a good interview.

I know that isn't what this thread is about, but to be honest I don't think bad interview experiences are what you would benefit from right now.

Re: Interviews

Your'e lucky to get a telephone interview these days. I've recently had companies who wanted me to interview in Lincoln & Milton Keynes. I requested intial telephone interviews to see if we had a mutual agreement to go forward and both said they didn't do them

I attended an interview in Bradford and the company have decided they can't afford me, they knew the rate beforehand but still had me travel there
