Is this the end of "organics"
I thought all this “organic” thing was about morals or principles, the ethics of how our food is farmed etc.
Farmers seeking organic 'holiday' - BBC
Seems that for many their principles are only as high as their bank balance. Did anyone expect anything different ?

Re: Is this the end of "organics"
Read this story as well and am mortified. Being a vegetarian and living as organically and cruelty free as possible has been my chosen way of life for years. Now these farmers want to change the goalposts for the sake of money. What happened to ethics?

Would you prefer it if they went bankrupt instead?

Sod, ethic's so long as mine and I can still eat, go for it farmer's!
If we run out of everything else, we can always graze on the vegetarian's.
(That would be my chosen way of life).

Re: Is this the end of "organics"
I've been a vegetarian longer then most Accy Webbers have lived.
All this organic hoorah is a load of barnyard confetti.
Most things in supermarkets are labeled grown in x country packaged
by whoever.
How can they prove foreign growers stick by the rules .
Its just a new way to rip off Britain.
How did farmers manage to grow food and feed cattle 100 years ago,
before all this special cattle food came along, and all the chemicals
they now use.
Grow your own Veg.
Retlaw.

Re: Is this the end of "organics"
Seems that if they aint making money then they havde to make a very hard decission as to how to proceed. As so called organic food is dearer than the massed produced stuff I am not suprised considering the downturn. The so called people in the know reckon it tastes better the organic stuff but if my daughters gran cooks it there is no taste anyway. I have tried some of this stuff but reckon it tastes better out of your own veggie patch in the garden or allotment. Dont know if pride in growing it makes it taste better. My mum once had half the back garden as a veggie patch wi swede carrots tatties brussels onions oh and lovely rubarb.
Now would Hilary out of The League of Gentlemen think that a vegitarian steak taste better than a meat muncher???

Re: Is this the end of "organics"
It tastes better and is more nutritous.
I will continue to buy organic whenever I have the option.
If it starts to cost more - I will eat less (meaning smaller portions - not you Less)
I can stand to lose a spare tyre
It is cheaper to eat vegetarian (did it for several years), but that can have severe health implications by causing a vitamin B12 deficiency, so needs expensive food supplements to be added.

Re: Is this the end of "organics"
I could never be a vegitarian as I am too fond of my meat. Those that are then they are no diferent than anybody else though maybe if supplements are taken healthier.

Re: Is this the end of "organics"
As one who has been veggie and who has lived with veggies, I can say with authority that
they could fart for England !
