I've just ate two butties..
The label says these were "deep fills", and they came from Tesco's; costing a quid each, both were brown bread, one being egg and cress, the other cheese & onion. I am not a veggie, by the way.
The labels indicated the percentage of the recommended daily amount of calories, etc, and this is what they contained:
Calories Sugar Fat Saturates Salt
Egg & Cress 24 4 40 32 25
Cheese & Onion 36 6 75 78 31
Total 60 10 115 110 56
In other words, eating 4 slices of bread, a quarter of an egg, an ounce of cheese, a few bits of mangy onion and rabbit food resulted in me exceeding my optimum daily dose of fat by 15% and saturates by 10%. This does seem somewhat peculiar and possibly misleading. I would assume a Macdonalds eye, tung and brain quarter pounder would come up with these figures, but a couple of sandwiches?
What is going on?
ps..sorry, I tried to edit it to get the columns in line, but it does not appear to work.
