Jaffa Cakes

A simple question folks.

Who makes the best Jaffa Cakes?

I know it might sound a little odd but I am just sat here eating jaffa cakes and I wondered which you all thought to be the best.

These are Asda smart price ones at 25p a packet. Thats less than a mars/twix/cruchie etc etc. I prefer them to the more expensive brands, not just because you can eat more for your pennies.

Have to agree with you Neil, the smart price ones are very moorish. Why pay more than you have to.

Re: Jaffa Cakes

Oooooh Vorlon, that's the age old question. I will go for biscuits although the biscuity bit in them is more like sponge cake. Why are pomfret cakes called cakes? There's nothing in them which remotely resembles cake, they're good though...

Oh Lettie - I LOVE pomfret cakes. Jaffa cakes I can take or leave, but will try the Asda ones sometime.

When I was pregnant with my son, Miles, I ate at least two boxes of pomfret cakes a day - my ex thought I was trying to cover up a liaison with a West Indian!

Re: Jaffa Cakes

Jaffa Cakes - how do you eat them, that is the question?

First of all i eat all the chocolate, then the orange jelly off, then crunch the biscuit.

Yum, especially dipped into ice cold milk.

THAT is like ''how do you eat twix's''. I always bite all the chocolate off the out side then nibble the biscuit that is left hehehehe

I do the "full moon, half moon, total eclipse" to wind up my children. They think it's hilarious!

Otherwise I just stuff the whole thing in my mouth in one go.

Lovely!!!

I had no clue as to what a "Jaffa cake" was so I did a bit of research and found this answer for you, vorlon24.

Even the British government has become embroiled in this web of snack-related intrigue. At present the Jaffa Cake is classified as a cake but the British government is attempting to get it reclassified as a biscuit. This would mean it would come under a higher tax bracket as biscuits aren't as perishable as cakes, or something technical like that.

With that being the case, it would seem certain that your Jaffa cakes will eventually wind up as a biscuit.

*The above quote was taken from here.

Re: Jaffa Cakes

Have they seriously got nothing better to do than "reclassify biscuits" !!! I am sorry but that sounds like something out of a Monty Python sketch!

Re: Jaffa Cakes

That means the price might increase to 26p instead of the current 25p. Thats outragous, time for a revoluton I think.

Whos with me?

There are a few places around that might carry them. I'll have to check around and try them out.
