John Bull? Anyone?

Anybody know of a chip shop in Accrington, (or thereabouts), which sells "John Bulls". I have to prove to some colleagues that they are real. I dont want to have to travel to Bburn to find one if it can be helped. TA.

Re: John Bull? Anyone?

I dont think John Bulls have ever been available in Accy, when I worked down Blackurn
several chippies made John Bulls it seemed a Blackburn thing, and no other towns seemed to have them.
The best ones I ever had was from a chippy on Bolton Road near the infimary, there is a chippy down Mill Hill still makes them.

Re: John Bull? Anyone?

Basically, they are two dabs with a spicy mince meat inside which is then battered and deep fried. Very tasty but very very Lardy. I guess its off to Blackburn for fridays lunch then.

Re: John Bull? Anyone?

Dabs are potato slices filled with mince and gravy, which are then battered and fried
in batter the outcome is a JOHN BULL,made right they are very good but Blacburn was
the main town for them.
