Re: June Taylor

I would like to say a very big thank you to all the people on the forum who sent their sincere good wishes to me on the death of June my wife.
I would have replied sooner but there were too many tears dropping on my key board.
I know I will never forget her, nor the 43 years we had together.
The only small consolation I have is that I managed to hold her in my arms for over an hour before she finally passed away and told her how I had appreciated all she had done for me and how much I loved her.
Sixty people attended the ceremony and cremation on Friday and we all had a a good chat about her with people relating their own memories.
We bury the ashes at 2PM Monday at Accrington Crematorium and the stone mason managed to make the small memorial and erect it ready for the burial. June must have looked down and told him to get a move on for her.

The consultant had been honest when he told us last February she hadn't much future and that gave us chance to have two holidays together this year.

Once again, thank you all for your kind remarks, we don't know each other but I now feel like a member of a select family on Accy web.
Thanks for all the private messages, I will reply soon.
Thank you Boeing Guy and Jill for popping round with the card, you should have come in for a brew.

Re: June Taylor

Just seen your thread.
I understand only too well what a difficult time you are experiencing - so sorry.
I lost my husband three and a half years ago - We'd been together nearly 50 years. Five 'going steady' followed by 44 years married.

Some words a dear friend said to me after he died continue to help me through - Hope they may bring you a little comfort too : -

" We can't feel saddened by the loss of those we love without first having the joy of remembering them. The real sadness would have been never having had them in our lives at all".

Hope the love and support of family and friends will help to give you strength & courage at this difficult time and in the future. Take care.

I love that-do you mind if I reiterate it to my friends?xx
Gremlin-I've also only just seen this thread. It's a touching tribute , what you wrote about her-truly hope you'll grieve whilst also, you relish the good times and find comfort in the things and people that brighten your life, take care-and there's nowhere better to go than in the arms of one who loved you xxxx

Of course I do not mind if you reiterate the words I quoted to Gremlin to your friends.
Would be good if they may help others too.

Re: June Taylor

I've come late to this thread Gremlin and was moved by your words and emotion about an obviously very special lady and judging by the number of people attending her last farewell with you she was obviously much admired. There's no words of comfort at a time like this, but there's many a person who envies you simply because you've had what they didn't .... you have wonderful memories.

Sincere Condolences, I hope you can take strength from your family and friends..

Re: June Taylor

Thank you Lucysgirl. I have indeed been a very lucky man to have had June by my side for 43 years.
We had a good life together.
I really do miss her so very much, I miss the hugs and cuddles we had every day.
The tears have not slowed yet.
I hope you don't mind me posting a copy of one card I got from a complete stranger. Her heart was indeed golden.

That's a lovely card Gremlin.
We all have different ways of dealing with the hard knocks that are dealt us. I was a teenager when my grandfather died and I couldn't understand why my grandmother in her 80s didn't seem to shed a tear, on the other hand I was in my thirties when my mother died and my father in his early 60s couldn't stop crying. If you're like him you'll have many an anecdote that you'd like to share and I see you've had several offers of people offering to lend an ear. I've just had a peek at the Blog section on accyweb to see if you've written anything about the joys of puppy walking, or any other hobbies to share with the rest of us .... I hope your grief eases sooner rather than later. Take care.

Grieve not, nor speak of me with tears, but laugh
And talk of me as if I were beside you. I loved
You so—‘twas heaven here with you.
