Re: Just fancied a few chips
Racial prejudice is wrong, and supposedly illegal in this country.
It doesn't matter who's treated differently, because of the racial group they happen to belong to.
It's wrong.
Even if the wooly thinking, liberal elite of this country, think it's only a one way discrimination issue, and everyone other than those who skin happens to be white, can be it's only victims.

I was discussing my experience at the Chippie with one of my daughters last night - and she had experienced exactly the same problem at Amico's even though she considered herself a "regular." Her order was put aside in favour of Asian customers that entered the shop after her!

So we can take it you'll be giving the establishment a wide birth in future Busman

Re: Just fancied a few chips
I wouldn't eat from establishments like Amico's if my life depended on it, I used to live nearby & once saw a member of staff urinate in the back street then go back into the shop, I'd bet all the tea in China he didn't wash his hands before carrying on preparing food.

Re: Just fancied a few chips
For heaven's sake, Busman, would it not have been easier to have put a few frozen chip in yer chip pan ? Surely, the chips would have been cold by the time you had grilled your ham ?. However, take the point of what you are trying to say. x

Re: Just fancied a few chips
This is not just going on in this chippy, has anyone else had the same experience at the asian run Abbey St Post Office (main)? I was in there last week, having walked in behind a young asian to join a que of about 6 or 7 people already waiting to be served. After a few minutes waiting, an asian lady behind the counter motioned the asian lad over and served him before the other people in the que, much to the suppressed anger of the people waiting.

Not saying this didn't happen, but certainly not been my experience.
Have always found all the staff there professional, and exceptionally helpful, and friendly.

An aside: The one high profile muslim business in K'town, "The Bazar", had a sign reading "Happy Eid" ... some local, politically incorrect individual modified the sign a little .... it now reads, "Happy iEd" ... If they don't change it back, I'll get a pic tomorrow.

True.
If I've ever been in a post office, and anyone even attempts to queue jump, there's always been a riot.

Re: Just fancied a few chips
People don't know how to queue in Italy - these days in most places you have to take a number and wait your turn...in the past it was those with the biggest elbows got served first.

Yes, it took me a good six months, to train an Italian assistant I had.
About how to behave correctly, and do things the British way.
When in Rome...
Well London, to be precise.

Damn ... sign's gone ... there will probably be a fatwa issued against politically incorrect Kingstonians who object to young Canadian men and women being blown up in Afghanistan, the leading recipient of Canadian foreign aid. ; and who also object to muslim immigrants using one Kingston's tourist attractions as a dump for the victims of an "honour killing". Ontario News: Were deaths of 4 women a matter of 'honour'? - thestar.com
We don't have asian chippys in K'town ... here it's worse. The owners of the two decent places are from Preston

Re: Just fancied a few chips
My first day in Italy - 8th Sept 1986.
Bus to Milan Central station from Malpensa airport - i was sitting behind the driver with my Rucksack on my knees. Police were called out to stop a mass brawl as there weren't enough places on the bus and passengers who couldn't get on started throwing the luggage of those who were on the bus out onto the tarmac....
Arrived late at the station -5 mins till train for Pavia departed, massive unruly queues for tickets. Looking innocent and lost I stopped a guy in uniform who worked there and ended up being taken to the front of the queue -ticket sorted and was escorted to the train and seen on-board with a kiss on the hand (Didn't get his number though )
You have to love the Italians even if they don't queue!
