From what I hear the prospective councillor for Baxenden is a very hard working business man, or is that an offence if you want to be a councillor,

From my personal experience, he (or his staff) can do a good buffet, too. No wonder he is successful!

It was much better when it was a transport cafe. I never ever venture into either KFC or the Colonel's place for fear of the dreaded lurgy encroaching on my feeble body which has survived for 72 years without such quickly made slutch.
I was brought up during the WW2 on local farm produce and have survived very well since.
As I am a mild manners sort of chap I am sure I would have blown a heart valve if some religious nutter of any faith or denomination had approached me in or out of an eating establishment. I once had a knock on my door and opened it to see the Jovo's standing there, when I told them (before they spoke) that I had given blood that week they fled.

I will re-phrase that comment,
They quickly left my premises and closed the garden gate behind them without giving me a second glance.
I did actually thank them for closing the gate but got no response.

Remember the last time I went on holiday, forgot to cancel the Jehovah's Witnesses and there were twenty of the sods camped outside my front door

Re: KFC - Accrington
Just thought I'd drag this thread up again. Was watching BBC Breakfast News this morning and there was a story about a couple who are getting hitched today and are having there wedding "Breakfast" at the local KFC , been trying to find a link but not having a lot of success. Apparently it runs in the family as the brides mother used Mcdonalds for her wedding Breakfast

Re: KFC - Accrington
I went to a wedding a couple of years ago where we all piled into the local Wetherspoons afterwards for pie and chips. Very enjoyable - AND cheap beer!
