Kicked the habit
Well after 18 years i have finally given up smoking!!!!! (with the help of patches, puffers and my friendly smoking cessation clinic!!)
Never thought i'd do it but i always promised myself that i wouldn't smoke when i was 30 and thats getting pretty close now so here goes
I've done a full 8 days 21hours 9 minutes (not that i'm counting)
To be honest it isn't bothering me as much as i thought it would and i can't believe i didn't do it sooner!! Had loads of support from girls at work especially ROMPS!! not too much from friends though, don't visit anymore because they can't smoke but hey!!! rather be lonely and alive!!!
Anyone else taken the plunge??

Re: Kicked the habit
Smoking is the road to a certain early death, quit and you may buy a few extra years, but one thing for certain you do not want to suffer the most painfull undignified death that goes with SMOKING.

I've said that too. When I've given up in the past I manage alright until it comes to going out, I end up buying a packet of 10 cigarettes and try to just social smoke but it never works. At least when the ban comes in, everywhere you look people won't have a fag in their hand so it should be easier.

Re: Kicked the habit
Well Done!! I will quit eventually but i'm just not ready to yet, and I know that. Funny thing is I dont smoke at home, because of Harry, so I can go Monday to Friday without one, but as soon as I step foot in work, i'm lighting up, its strange. Dunno what I'll do when the ban comes n though. Smoke outside I suppose.

Re: Kicked the habit
Good job, TracyO. Keep up the good work and, should you happen to slip, just get back on the no smoking program and keep trying.

Re: Kicked the habit
We managed to give up for two years but found that it never seemed to get any better and we were both miserable. We cracked whilst on holiday and have smoked ever since.
Living here doesn´t help as they are so cheap. I´m the same as Harwood Red, get me in front of the computer and it´s one after the other.
Good luck Tracy. Proud of you x

Re: Kicked the habit
Well done TraceyO!
I quit 19 years ago. I had smoked since I was 13/14 and was on 25/30 a day when I quit. It was the best decision that I ever made and something that I attempted many times. In the end I went cold turkey (no patches then). The first 2 weeks were the hardest, slipped up once and then got back on track. There will be times when the cravings try to take over but you will be able to ride them out. THEY DO PASS. It will get easier as time goes on, less cravings and they pass quicker. Good Luck I'm with you all the way. casper x

Re: Kicked the habit
Well done.
Keep at it.
You work with Romps?
She's enough to make you want to smoke.
I love perfuming her hair and clothes with the Alpine freshness of my ciggies.
