Duck breast fillets from supermarkets are nice roasted- only get tough if overcooked - put crumpled tinfoil under them so they dont sit in the fat while roasting. They are not like the wild mallard ducks which have no fat.

PS as for pidgeons - Quail are similar and are farmed in the Ribble valley and can be got all year round - have eaten wild wood pidgeon

IM not sure where your coming from on this!! i do voluntary work at my kids school and im a stay at home mum, education is one of the things you can do anytime in your life, even after 20 yrs of being at home,you say you have your freedom education and home, who is paying for all this ? (just a question) and do you work?

I dont do any paid work, as I think Neil said, the Poles take them all so we can't find work, and technically I pay for it as I pay it back with interest when I am earning I certain amount of money.

My mum is a stay at home mum, what I'm saying is that SHE isn't the type of stay at home mum I approve of. And yes there are different types.

Ducks are bred in captivity too and eat the same stuff as chickens and get fat. Wild birds eat natural stuff and don't get fat (same as humans that way

Whilst you have brought it up, are there battery farms for ducks? I guess Bernard Matthews probably has a battery farm for turkey, but I have never heard of anyone doing the same with ducks.

Hmm, i have never eaten duck, but I didnt realise they were demanded enough to produce them like that.

I would imagine over here there isnt as much demand as there is in the oriental countries, i myself am not too keen on duck and venison is a bit rich, in the land next to us they have shooting parties where they shoot game on private land, its unfair but it keeps the numbers down, well according to them

Wild meat does taste better than farmed meat most of the time.
Like any meat animal - the taste depends on what IT ate, and whether it had stress in its lifetime.
