Re: Lancashire Telegraph

When it was the old Evening Telegraph, they used to have different copy for different areas, it was a lot Different in Burnley, in fact when I lived in Hassy I had to order the Blackburn version or I'd get Burnley, There were also differences in the Accrington edition and the Chorely on e too

The i is a national paper so can't really be compared to a local like the Lancashire Telegraph.

The i has been out longer than last year, it was launched in October 2010. I think it is popular because its not silly broadsheet size like most of the other quality papers. The Independent has such a low circulation it must be making a loss and can't last long.

Neither of them are good value for money.
I wonder if the Accrington Observer circulation will go up as more people in this area stop buying the LT and decide to just buy one paper each week instead of the more expensive LT each day

Re: Lancashire Telegraph

One of the best papers to read is the "Metro" this is a free paper you can pick up on a lot of trains and at stations there is also a free app to download it to your phone free
if I am on a train I always take a copy home to read.
I will not be buying the Telegraph again most of the news does not relate to this area so not much interest and at 65p per day steep
most of the news in the telegraph is in the observer anyway

Re: Lancashire Telegraph

I think I've commented before of my time at both the Accrington Observer and Times and The Lancashire Evening Telegraph.Years ago the journalists were local people who had an interest in the local community(I'm going a bit League of Gentlemen!)
They had their collective fingers on the pulse of local affairs, they also had the input of the people who composed and printed the papers.
Nowadays it seems that with the papers being printed miles away, that they have become a token gesture.Indeed pick up the 'Observer and its sister title the Rossendale Free Press and you could think that you have moved to Manchester.
One of my own contributions to the past 'cock-ups' was when I laid a Klischograph photo plate upside down and the resulting 24,000 Observers showed an interesting story of vandalism at a local schools toilets. The toilets appeared to be hanging from the ceiling!
Hot metal days, gone but not forgotten.

Quite a few people I know have said exactly this as the Observer has most of the local news that has been in the Telegraph during the week. Bad move LET.
