I understand. The bus operators, highways engineers, town centre retailers, the public there, LCC did want a new site and they preferred Crawshaw Street.
I wanted a wider discussion on all sites but The Leader stepped in and stifled everything. The last conversation was two bus companies who blasted Britcliffe and said they would not deal with him.
So an open debate was even stopped. That was wrong. In the end with no debate most crowded around the idea of Crawshaw Street as simple way forward!
All wrong.

Re: Leader reported for conduct breach
I think the councillor who made the comment about Cllr. Jone's baby daughter was lucky he wasn't punched in the mouth!
Jaysay once wrote to the press that this forum was filled with 'vile and vicious attacks', aimed at his political chum, Cllr. Britcliffe.
Sadly it seems Accy Web is a place of serene calm and harmony, when compared to some of our councillor's behaviour.
If he/she's escaped a slap, I think they deserve publicly naming and shaming.
No matter what the sins/merits of the father are, using an innocent baby as a form of attack is utterly contemptible.

Re: Leader reported for conduct breach
is a conflict of interest somthing like if a coucilor owned a property and the public managed to overturn plans for it to be allowed to be say turned into an off licence and it mysteriously having work started on it a year later despite the locals succesfull petition and the sale of teh councilors property going ahead to the off licence company ?
or is that just what is known as a tefal moment ?

was just wondering what detrement a new bus depot woudl have to your buisness i know the last big change to teh market forced many family buisnesses long established in accrington out of buisness because teh council made it so damn dificult for them to stay operating but wouldnt a new bus depot lead to there been an oportunity to give accrington a decent sized market once again or is that just crazy thinking that HBC could actually make a decision that would benefit our town lol
the only thing accrington town center is of use for these days is cheap duracell batteries at poundland.Apart from that i dont see any real need to visit accy town center unless you either have an adiction to charity shops or need to pawn somthing or place a bet at one of the MANY gambleing establishments in town

...and what Jaysay failed to comprend is that there is a difference between Accy Web, and what apparently is said at H.B.C.
On the one rare time I remember, when mention was made about the Council Leader's family, I for one reported it, and it was promptly removed.
The only vile vicousness happening, doesn't happen on here.

It was out of order. You can say what you want about me and I will usually just laugh, say something about my family and that is different.

I think it's genuinely disgusting.
The sexist 'silly cow insult was bad enough, but using someone's baby daughter is disgusting, and I don't know who said it, or what party they're from, it's pathetic.
It's all well and good saying it's 'water off a duck's back', and luckily it seems Graham has a tough skin, but that's not the point.
If you're going to attract good people into public office, they shouldn't have to put up with that. Yes you're going to have to be tough, and defend your politics, but you shouldn't have to fend off sexist, or offensive insults to your loved ones.
If some of this reported abuse was happening in a normal workplace, people would be dismissed.
As you said earlier Neil, it would be productive for the people who elected them, if councillors would work together, and that won't be helped by these nasty verbal attacks.
Pathetic.

Re: Leader reported for conduct breach
i know i may get hung from all sides for saying this .. but i feel that at local level there isnt a place for politics .. councillors from all parts of the spectrum should work together for whatevers best for the community .. rather than it being tory policy, labour policy or lib dems .. think everyone should be independent ...
because how many times have you voted for the person rather than the party .. you might vote for a person because you might think he'll do a good job .. rather than a party like at national or county level .. even at county level some people vote for the person rather than the party .. ive heard it many times while out canvassing .. im a labour voter but im voting for ****** because i know them ..

I know whats said on here, I hear very little of whats said at HBC especially now I don't get either the Telegraph or Observer, I only know what is reported about HBC on hear with a slanted left bias. As for the that type of name calling, its out of order, the only thing is Its the first time I've heard of it

Well since there are two Conservative councillors who are members of Accy Web, that we know of, perhaps you should be encouraging them to post more, to redress the balance.
After all some people don't seem afraid of being vocal in council chambers.

If that puts them off maybe they should not have stood for election

Unlike in council chambers there's a report button on here, for any abusive comments.
Plus those who decide to play with matches shouldn't be too suprised if they occasionally get their fingers burnt.
I consider the two names you mentioned, one being your's, as being guilty of using equally 'vile and vicious attacks' against those you oppose, and certainly no worse than anything that's been posted about your delicate, and vunerable chum, Cllr. Britcliffe.
