I left in 1983.
Besides the odd old hippy, having a crafty joint in some backstreet Blackburn boozer, I never saw any other drug use locally, and I had a very active social life.
Cut to nearly thirty years later, I've seen umpteen people dealing in this area. In the street, from cars, and in a great deal of our town centre pubs and clubs.
It's sadly easier to score illegal narcotics, and in some cases cheaper, than getting drunk.
So yes, from what I've seen, drugs are much more easily accessible nowadays.
