Re: Litter ....

Mc D's provide plenty of bins around their stores, I think the Blackburn Town Centre one has 3 or 4 outside it. Once the people take it away then its nothing to do with them.

No wonder the country is going down the tubes with everyone eating at Rotten Ronnie's ... people should eat the wrappings and dump the "food" ... the wrappings are more nutritious than the burgers and the stray cats etc would love to eat the junk food (altho' roadkill would probably be better for them) .... If you guys are short of scavengers, I renew my offer to supply a few skunk.

Re: Litter ....

I watched North West Tonight yesterday and they had this guy on who was the Chairman (or to be PC Chairperson) of Keep Britain Tidy Campaign, who's no doubt on a 6 figure salary. Is it any wonder this country is going down he tubes, this guy was banging on about the fast food chains for the litter problem, NO IT ISN'T YOU BURK, I found myself yelling at the box, its the brain dead idiot who throws the packaging on the floor, not the chap that sells him the food. If everybody took responsibility for their own actions and did the right thing we'd live in a better world, but when we live in a society where a tug will kick somebody to death for objecting to his unreasonable behaviour, what chance have we got when asking the same thug to place fast food carton in a litter bin, I'd say slim to none

Ah yes, but it is easier to blame big companies, than to tell the public they have to clean up their act.

Re: Litter ....

the aldi area in accy gets littered a lot with mcdonalds packaging infact i would almost guarentee any area withing 5 mins walk of a mcdonalds suffers from high amounts of litter

is this mcdonalds fault - NO

is this the fault of lazy bastards who drop their litter as soon as they stop feeding their fat faces or throw it out of their car window - YES

perhaps with the amount of cctv in that area alone they could get registratiion numbers of cars throwing litter out of their windows and radio to the pretend police men on patrol to nab and fine people seen doing it

Spot on accyman, but if they started fining people £500 for dropping litter I think there would be a drastic reduction in the amount of crap that is floating around the streets

exactly but even with all the cctv in the area and comunity wardens there is very little been done to enforce littering laws

mind you i will grant that the majority of comunity wardens time is spent having to sort out kids whos parents cant control or wont control them

Re: Litter ....

A lot of Councils cut back on bins in the light of terrorist activity because of the ease of leaving a bomb in them. Certainly litter does seem to be getting worse over recent years. I'm amazed at the number of people i see dropping large items of litter down right in the middle of town centres nowadays including bottles and cans. CCTV certainly isnt stopping it. is it!

To be quite honest Taggy I don't really think that CCTV was installed to catch litter louts it was more for watching unsavory characters and the like doing naughties, quite honestly I bet the people who do drop little consider themselves as upstanding citizens, but its just become commonplace now to drop litter without really thinking about it, maybe a £500 fine may just focus their minds a little

Re: Litter ....

No, i was'nt meaning to suggest thats why the majority of CCTV is installed, just that you would think that as a consequence of that, people would be less likely to drop litter for fear of being identified, but they dont seem to give a damn about that nowadays. As you say, hitting them with a hefty fine would make them think again hopefully. I wonder if the problem has been lessened in those centres which have the system whereby a vocal warning is shouted at litter louts...probably to expensive to install and operate in most smaller towns though.

Best Regards - Taggy

Re: Litter ....

the terrorism thing reminded me of a time i spent i bolton

after a heavy night a couple of years ago out i awoke in a shelter( long story lol) and managed to get some breakfast from a nearby supermarket near the train station.I got the food to take out and ate it while waiting for a train home and put the remains of my full english breakfast into the bin only for it to drop straight through onto the floor

turns out due to fear of terrorism rather than remove the bins completely they removed the bottoms of the bins and left the shells on the posts and when i asked if they could put it in the bin they had in their office they said they couldnt so i guess they were affraid i had left a couple of bangers in the tray or somthing
