Re: Local election candidates etc
Having just returned from the theatre, a Labour pamphlet was waiting for me on the mat.
Strangely they are also taking credit for many of the claims made on the Tories leaflet, such as dog poo bins, more cctv cameras, and free swimming lessons for kids.
Funniest quote is about local Post Offices. It says our Tory run council has removed 60,000-80,000 transactions per year from local Post Offices. It goes on to say that when Peter Britcliffe, who is campaigning to save the said local Post Offices, was asked in council chambers to comment, he declined to answer.
Bravo.

I wonder how they did that, some change to Council Tax payments or something. I suppose it did not mention how payments have bean lost since benefits started to be paid direct to bank accounts - which Government started doing that?

It says they, Hyndburn Borough Council, did it 'through Direct Debits and discouraging the Post Office Payment Card.'

I didn't think it was a question that needed answering, more of a statement from your good self.
Any further details I'm afraid I can't supply, as sadly for all parties concerned I do not write any of their election pamphlets.

It's surprising how they'll still try and spin their way into an election. You'd have thought they would have learnt, nobody falls for their tricks now!

If there was an election in your ward there was a Tory candidate, I don't know where you live flashy but there was no election in St.Andrews Ossy

It's a pity you don't write the Labour leaflets.
They might stand a chance of being punctuated correctly then.
The Labour leaflet I got for my ward was abysmal.......why aren't these things checked? I wouldn't deliver them if they were given to me.

In what way Lilly, and who did the printing, it will be on the bottom of the leaflet

Misuse of apostrophes.
One's instead of ones
Apprentice's instead of apprentices.
Post office's instead of post offices.
I've just had another look to see who did the printing and it says Dalton and Co. Oxford Street, Accrington.

Is the printer at fault? I should imagine they should check but it would be interesting to know who wrote the original

I dont think you can blame the poor printer. They just get a document and told to print it, the checking should lbe done elsewhere - probably the marketing consultant who dreamed up the leaflet.

Yes, Polly. I would have thought that the printer just prints verbatim what they are given.
I would think that the blame for any errors with punctuation or spelling lies with the person who compiled the leaflet.
Very shoddy work.
