Lolly Pop Lady

This weeks you couldn't make it up comes from Bath. It appears that the Lolly Pop Lady outside a school was of sick so the teachers thought they would take her place whilst she was on sick leave, making sure that the kids crossed the road outside the school safely. Step in the Health and Safety Executive who said that the teachers had no training in the art of holding a lolly pop sign and could not take her place, so now the kids have to make their own way accross a very busy road. Give me strenghth.

Unbelievable! They certainly deserve a jobsworth award for that decision.

Who amongst the Health and safety decide on what training the lollipop lady needs? If they can't allow the teachers to do the job surely this 'executive' should step into the breech and guide the children across the road, or maybe they should stand at the side of the road sending the children home with a flea in their ear?

H&S Executive "Hey sonny, where do you think you're going?"

Young Pupil "Please Mr. I'm going to school"

H&S Executive "Not across this busy road your not, not, without a lollipop lady, get yourself home, I don't want to see you around here again until she's back on duty"

And we all know where we would like to stick the lolly pop as far as the Health and safety executive are concerned...PATHETIC!!!!

So in the opinion of the H&SE it's safer for the children to cross unaided than to have an untrained lollypop holding teacher there to help them?

Who can rid us of these petty interfering jobsworths?

Maybe a politcal party could put this on their agenda at the next election. It would get my vote.

Mine too if the rest of their policies were compatible.

You would have thought the local beat bobby would have stood in for 20 minutes twice a day to make sure the kids were safe. I wonder if the school actually approached the Police for any assistance.

When my kids were younger their mum had a part time job as lollipop lady and she came under the control of the local police, uniform lollipop etc issued by them, if for some reason she was unable to attend she was obliged to inform them so that they could make alternative arrangements, (perhaps H&S have decided the police are no longer well enough trained to do the job?).
