Lottery Grants in Hyndburn
First of all, a big thanks to Gayle for providing this information. This is a breakdown of every organistion in Hyndburn which has benefited from the National Lottery Good Causes Fund, as I understand it. The majority, are I think, well deserving causes but the relative amounts given to each entity may well cause a few raised eyebrows. I shall save my comments until others have made a few. Enjoy your read.

Re: Lottery Grants in Hyndburn
I am surprised at the amount some get and not just once... In fact dismayed at some..
BUT on the other hand.. I can't knock it.. If its there to be had and they know how to get it then good luck to them.. If theres a problem anywhere its certainly NOT with the people applying or getting.. its with the people handing out... So try not to knock the organisations for taking whats being handed out

Re: Lottery Grants in Hyndburn
I feel p off because it looks like we've been missing out not cos I think they shouldn't get it. I need teaching how to apply for this money.
Only thing is you haven't exactly got a lot to show for it that the public can see have you .

To explain the funding a little more
£6,000 was to hold the VE/VJ day commemoration party last year.
£2,600 was to hold a week of events for International Women's Week 2006
and the
£9,450 is actually spread over 3 years, i.e. £3,150 for 2006, 2007 and 2008.

Re: Lottery Grants in Hyndburn
We have actually been over this a few times in other threads but to explain a little more -
Funding is available for ANY community group or organisation, all you have to do is apply. Funding is rarely rejected and if it is it's usually because the forms have been filled in wrong. Hyndburn has received very little funding in comparison to other areas of the country - this is NOT because the lottery is rejecting applications that come from Hyndburn, it is because groups from Hyndburn are not applying for the money.

Re: Lottery Grants in Hyndburn
Can i just say cos i chair a new community group & applying for funding is an absolute nightmare & not as easy as made out, your group has to fill certain criteria - plus the forms are complicated requiring a lot of information, also requires in most cases a constitution which makes things complex & legally blinding. Great if your are successful but these groups [as being lottery funded] require to submit reports & accounts - plus you have to have trust within your constitution, all money applied for has to be accounted for, so many groups do fail at this point because they are not clear & concise as to what they are funding for - plus open to be under-estimated because neccessary as lack of homework on what your project requires. Its is quite a scary process & can put many worthy groups off the idea [we've had a bit of cold feet ourselves but its necessary in order to keep groups going].
Lucky we've have just completed a course on setting up community groups & funding is required element so thankfully we are a lot more aware of what we are doing as many groups are not. Personally i dont have a problem with any group aquiring funding as they have successully fulfilled the critera - its now up to them to manage their accounts & sustainability - & thats the hardest bit too. It can only be good news for Hyndburn to be getting funding support & on the map as far as grants/funding goes as its hard enough.

Sorry if this is a bit of a thread wander, but whatever happened to the lottery grant application for the "Accrington Stanley - The Club That Wouldn't Die" exhibition?

Re: Lottery Grants in Hyndburn
We're just at a point where we can send the bid in and waiting to find out Wynonie, it can take about 12 - 14 weeks, sometimes longer before you get an answer.
