Lottery overseas
BBC NEWS | UK | Holiday lottery rules 'not clear'
Did you know that, although you can buy lottery tickets abroad on the internet, in some countries, your entry is null and void, the mot prominent being Spain and the USA, yet nowhere in camelot's rules does it tell you this

It actually stated that, although they have a extensive set of rules printed on their Web Site, there is no mention of this, I play the lottery on line and have done for about 5 years now and I've never seen anything about it

Re: Lottery overseas
I'm confused. If say, I bought my ticket over the net while on hols in Spain and then returned to the UK to find I'd got a winner, how could my payout be stopped?

It just said that purchasing in Spain ain't allowed Tealeaf, apparently they know where the ticket is bought and it would be null and void

Re: Lottery overseas
Presumably, then UK citizens cannot buy the Spanish Lottery tickets in the UK...which is a shame, because the jackpot on the Spanish lottery - I think it's called El Gobo - is about half a billion euro.

The question often raised with internet sales is 'where' is the point of sale. As a website exists on a server in the uk but the client(your browser) resides elsewhere, and the payment is processed in the UK is the sale inside the server where money changes hands or at the location of the client. My guesss would be who gets the tax from the sale, surely that is the true location of the sale......

Re: Lottery overseas
I've tried to buy UK Lottery tickets online here in Tenerife but the request was denied. Once they recognise the ISP address you are doomed!
As Benipete says, El Gordo (the fat one) is the Christmas version of the Spanish Lottery and tickets cost around twenty five euros each. The draw is something else and takes hours whilst the kiddies sing this really annoying song.
I just buy a couple of Euromillions tickets now but never win, lol.
