Lucky Lad

A 13 yr old lad decided to walk along the wall of one of the bridges crossing the M65 near Gannow earlier tonight. Fell off on to the motorway

Apparently he is in his hospital but not critical. Don't know the extent of his injuries yet. Can imagine his parents have emotions of both extremes, relief he isn't dead and angry at his stupidity. Why do they do these things ?

Re: Lucky Lad

A releif hug that he's alive & a good clout round the ear for giving them the shock of their lives & another for his absolute stupidity!!

Feel sorry for anyone that had the displeasure of witnessing it also, some people haven't the sence or fear of danger or most importantly the consequences

Re: Lucky Lad

Idiot. What if he had hit the screen of a car or something like a bus. His stupidity could have cost lives not just his own. I hope he's made to pay his own hospital bills.

Re: Lucky Lad

Silly boy. A case of wishing you could put an old head on young shoulders.

If we're honest most of us have done silly dangerous things when egged on by mates. I distinctly remember playing 'chicken' on Henry Street Church .... I know it's not big and it's not clever!

Although, I hope it was just high jinx and it wasn't a suicide attempt

Re: Lucky Lad

Lancsdave, you hit the nail on the head, he's a 13 year old boy. Dumb yes but unfortunately for those of us made it through this stage of life understandable?

Not sure if I mean understandable, I guess I mean more like expected not accepted.

My mates and brothers used to do the most stupid things in our youth i.e. shooting arrow as far in the air as possible an try to find out where they'd land, throw firecrackers at each other, light many things on fire (including my little brother's bed with aftershave, spread tons of apples (or leaves) in the road and watch which cars would squoosh em and which ones would yell at us, throw various vegetables at cars, etc., etc., etc,..

Very stupid, idiotic, dangerous! Moms who didn't have brothers find this type of behavior all the above. Thankfully Cindy had 3 brothers so at least she somewhat understands.

I find myself asking the various boys I've dealt with over the years: What the heck were you thinking" or Why on earth did you do that?" The answer is either "I don't know" or "We thought it'd be cool!"

Here's to all us men who survived our childhoods!

Brian

Re: Lucky Lad

Turns out to be 14 yr old, and no confirmation yet he was walking over the bridge wall;
