Mad Friday

Was wondering how the services and hospitals will cope with this evening.

Blackburn is already struggling to cope. Think it's about time people who end up using the services and hospitals due to their own stupidity and inability to moderate their drinking were made to pay.

Hubby's a taxi driver and working tonight. Won't settle till he gets home safe.

I agree they should pay but even they aren't as stupid and lacking ability as much as the senior mamnagment cretins responsible for running the NHS system at Blackburn. One of our family was discharged at 3pm but had to wait for medicines from the pharmacy. They turned up 10 minutes ago. The nurses and other staff are under immense pressure while the powers that be sit in their ivory towers totally remote from the real world.

You and me both Caz!!! I hate this time of year and worry about him when he is working. He has started taking just his main float out at the beginning of a shift and bringing his money home regularly through the night.

Re: Mad Friday

the rain may disuade some people as it was quite heavy earlier on

i'm working in bolton and thats meant to be quite violent on mad friday

10pm start thankfully i'm working with a half decent door-team though the radio's are ****e.

i've long thought that people who go to hospital due to excessive drinking should be billed. fall off a tree? accident. broke a leg playing football? accident. ended up a&e due to drinking 30 shots? ur own fault.

Ok ... but still confused .... is this a new "tradition" ... for the life of me, I can't remember it (the memory is the second thing to go) .... and is Christmas a time when folks don't drink as much

Friday is going to be quiet here ... a full-blown blizzard tends to quiet things down

Re: Mad Friday

If someone gets paralytic, finishes up in hospital and whilst there abuses/attacks the nurses then they should be chucked outside and left there. Leave them, don't help them.

People who are out on the drink all day, can't take their drink and start fights are scum.

Most folk are just out for a good night on mad Friday but you always get these idiots too.

Re: Mad Friday

You do have to pay for the ambulance if you are taken to hospital drunk. Was a bloke used to come in the club when I worked there used to hammer the vodka and red bull. He collapsed one night and was taken to hospital by ambulance and quite rightly was billed for the pleasure when they realised he was just blotto.

I agree with Lilly if they start on the staff they should be turfed out. It is unfair on other patients as well having the threat of violence.

Yeah that's ok billing him if he was just blotto. That's straight forward. But if people sustain injuries, eg fall over drunk and sustain a broken ankle or the like, or get into fights because of drink and have to be taken to hospital...
I realise that some people in the latter example will be innocent victims of such, but police evidence will surely clarify that.

It's been terrible in Edinburgh today, normally such a nice place, violence was lingering in the air tonight.

I also used to work for BT answering 999 calls on nights like this, queue's to the emergency services could last for 30mins plus.

Yep take your point, I just don't bother going out when the nutters are on the loose. In fact very rarely go out these days and never venture into the town centre. Even got a taxi home from my sisters tonight whereas normally getting the bus wouldn't bother me. Sad really when people feel intimidated just going home.
