Of course, it had to happen...the Department of Transport has now written to local councils to advise them that it might not be a good idea to use these devices because of the risk of injury to car drivers and their passengers. In the four years before these posts were fitted, there were 50 injuries and one death caused to innocent pedestrians by vehicles driving up this street in contravention of these signs. Since they have been fitted, there have been none. But it seems that the well-being of half-witted motorists is more important to the DOT.
