Margaret Pilkington.
Does anyone know how Margaret is going on ? I know her husband Dave has not been to well lately, it has been a while since she posted on Accy Web which is unusual.

Re: Margaret Pilkington.
Thank you for your concerns. I am very grateful that you care.
I am alright…and my other half is improving more than I could hope for(though I do not want to jinx this progress).
Nicola is ok too….but it is just that there has been very little here on Accyweb to post to recently.
Less May tell me that the answer to this is in my hands.
That perhaps if I posted something of interest then it would attract posts.
Would that it was true, but it isn’t is it?
I have, in the past been a poster to all sorts of topics, but recently there has been nothing to post to.
I have still logged on, but on seeing just three posts and sometimes NO new posts….well that is why I have not been very visible.
It has been said in the past that Accyweb was dying and I always challenged that, but it does seem that on this I may have been wrong.
I would have posted to my blogs because there has been a lot happening in my life…some of it very challenging, but I cannot access the past blogs or post to any new blogs.
This is not a criticism of Roy because I know he is busy.
So there you are.
Thank you to my Accyweb pals for thinking of me.

Re: Margaret Pilkington.
Glad to read you, Margaret, and yours are, like many of us, still hanging in there.
I understand your frustration about interactions here on the Accy web.
However, I wonder if the issue isn’t that there’s not much going on but, rather, there’s so much going on over which we seem to have no control or no way of influencing.
I often feel like ordinary people who are interested in what’s going on in our world, are being slowly, deliberately ground down by incessant media, lies, nonsense, and propaganda.
But, as the old acronym goes, NLTBGYD so, for your or anyone else’s amusement, these are just a few of the web sites I visit to hear views and information that would definitely not get “verified” (I think that should be vilified) by the BBC…

https://www.steynonline.com/
There are, of course, many others and I’d be interested in web sites you or other people have found that give them strength and solace in what appears to becoming an every crazier world.

Re: Margaret Pilkington.
Exile the wall to wall coverage of issues that are merely distractions from the serious events in the world…and the things that we…the little people care about are being deprived of hearing about(because many out there rely on the MSM for their news.
Of course if we declare that we believe that there are only two genders…we are bigots.
If we declare that those coming in on the small boats are economic migrants rather than refugees…we are shouted down as racists, because of course there is no leeway for anything other than the view of the chatterati.
Tell me isn’t that fascist….where there is only one view that can be held and those who wish to think otherwise are ‘trouble makers’.
Remember when Accyweb was full of those who could think and articulate their thoughts….and were brave enough to say things that were diverse from popular opinion…but also accepted that other views were respected…they might be passionately argued about, but there was a live and let live environment.
I am truly glad that I have lived my life in the era that has gone.
I mourn the passing of that era because I do not see the world being improved by these liberal ideas.

Re: Margaret Pilkington.
Amen Sister!
I pop in about once a week and, finding no new posts, pop out again.
My pops are getting fewer and farther between. (Must be old age?)

Re: Margaret Pilkington.
I am the same. If I log in and see no new posts, or posts that I can add something too, then I leave.
Like you MoreJoe my visits are getting fewer.
This saddens me because it used to be a place where you could have a good discussion.

Re: Margaret Pilkington.
Taddy, you could have an interesting discussion on anything….and we did.
If you look at the archives you will see that the subjects that came up were very diverse.
It might have been about local issues,(the Panopticon comes to mind) or it might have been about how things were in the world.

Re: Margaret Pilkington.
I go along with everything Margaret has said. Surely there is enough controversy going on in the world today for us to find something to debate about and air our views. I must say though that I find it disappointing when a new thread has been started but disappears very quickly.
Taddy, to answer your question ‘on what?’may I respectfully suggest, as Margaret has done, that you look back through General Chat for instance and read the very diverse subjects that were discussed a few years ago. I joined in 2009 and I remember many of the good discussions, debates, arguments, call than what you will. There were also some real characters who made their mark on Accrington Web in those days but are sadly no longer with us. Very much missed.
There were some controversial figures as well, I seem to recall a couple of religious contributors (I won’t call them nutters, but....) who had weird and wonderful ideas. Made for interesting arguments. So Taddy while you are watching your potatoes grow and having a pint or two of your favourite tipple, there’s a bit of reading there for you. You’ll find it interesting to say the least and it might give you some idea of what was and what could be again.....
....so let’s all put our thinking caps on and bring some life back into the site. There has to be something we can discuss.
