Mark Duggan

The death of Mark Duggan sparked the disturbances in Tottenham that led to the rioting across London and other cities. They are being discussed at length in other posts, but it is worth having a separate thread to talk about the specifics of his death, which raise a whole raft of other issues.

The IPCC has published its initial findings. It seems that he was sitting in the back of a taxi when he was shot, and a firearm was found next to him. The firearm had been converted from one that fires blank rounds to one that fires live bullets. A bulleted cartridge was found in the gun. It was not a replica, but was rather an illegal firearm.

There was no evidence that the gun had been discharged, and the two bullets fired at the scene came from police weapons. Duggan died from a single shot wound.

The IPCC reports that the police firearms officers claim they discharged their weapons in the belief that there was a threat to human life. The guidelines allow them to open fire in such circumstances.

The family of Mark Duggan have expressed their concern at the findings. They feel that someone should be held responsible for his death.

I agree with them. There is only one person responsible for Mark Duggan's death. The low life nonentity that climbed into the back of a taxi with a loaded illegal gun, and acted in such a way that armed police were called and felt it necessary to shoot him because he was a threat to human life.

ie their beloved Mark.

I think it was The Reverend Green, with the lead pipe, in the Billiard Room, what done it.

The IPCC looked at that theory, but it was scuppered by the fact that the Rev Green is still in Parkhurst after the incident with Professor Plum and the rope in the Conservatory.

To be perfectly honest, unless the findings say otherwise, i hardly reckon he merits a thread.

Good question. The Coalition Government? 14 years of Labour rule, maybe? The European Human Rights legislation?

Well put, but of course their Mark was such a good lad never put a foot wrong "the gun must have been planted next to him your honour", because he was such a kind, gentle, upstanding member of the community.

Re: Mark Duggan

This is not a political argument, at least you cannot say any one government is to blame.
The deceased had a choice, he choose to carry a hand gun, they are illegal in this country.
He paid the price for it.
Why would you feel the need to carry a loaded weapon that only has one use, to kill or maim.

There has been a rise in the number of gun carrying youths in recent years, maybe the gangsta rappers have something to do with it

And it really is as simple as that. If you go out with a gun and you get shot by the police its your own fault. Even if the policeman does not warn you because he believes he does not have the time for a warning before he thinks you are going to shoot, its your own fault.

Re: Mark Duggan

this idiot was the topic of discussion on talk sport the other night and people from his area were ringing in and emailing that amongst his hobbies he allegedly liked to give cocaine etc to young teenagers to get them hooked so they would become future customers.

If true that alone justifies a bullet through his head

Totally agree..if you have possesion of an illegal loaded gun then you are likley to be dealt with by whatever means and that is right..no messing about.
I'll add that I see no viable reason for anyone apart from the police to be allowed to own a loaded gun in this country.
