Re: Market Hall Refurbishment
Perhaps using public funds to pay an old biddy in there, crocheting caterpillars to hang from the ceiling, is designed to give those high as a kite, something 'cool, and way out' to focus on, whilst on their buying trips to the Market Hall.

There's him.
Champion of gay community 'ranted' at Asian shopworker (From Blackburn Citizen)
But apparently he lives in Manchester, and after he was accused of being racist, he seems to have dropped his plans for a Gay Pride in Accrington.

Famously some wag is always Tipexing the 'C' off the sign in Manchester.
Now you can openly buy amyl nitrate in Accrington, perhaps the wag will change our sign.

Re: Market Hall Refurbishment
Amyl Nitrate? You can make bombs out of that stuff, quite easily. It's not the puffters we should now be worried about in the market hall, but terrorists. I wonder if the cops are aware of this? As an ancillary to this carry on, maybe Britcliffe will get some of Lancashire's finest coming through his front door at 4am, complete with balaclavas, ram hammers and Heckler-Koch semi-automatics.

I suppose we can live in hope(and die in Clayton).

Re: Market Hall Refurbishment
Small sidetrack I know…forgive me.
As of October the outside market will be running under a similar format every Wednesday as the present format is on Mondays , the exception being that it will only be £2.50 to rent a stall for the day ( think they pay something like £12 on Mondays) I can only assume that the Monday traders will flip to Wednesday trading and save a tenner.
This must be what they call “optimising the Markets potential”

From memory Monday is £6, other market days are £12.
Are the current staff expected to cover the Wednesday market too ?

Wasn't too sure about the pricing if I'm honest Dave, still a saving tho.
Staff wise there are 3 porters in on Wednesdays at present, no office staff, which will have to alter.
It's generally Weds and Sunday that they can properly clean the main hall, entrance doors polished (wood, glass, brasswork) toilets properly done and the floor used to be wet cleaned but we dont have a machine that will do the flagged floor now. One is being sourced. The outside market usually gets a good powerwash on a Wednesday also.

Re: Market Hall Refurbishment
It seems that I've made a terrible mistake about the Market Hall. If I did my homework and spent less time posting on Accy Web then maybe I wouldn't have made such a fundamental error.
I asked Cllr Marlene Haworth when wi-fi will be installed to enable traders to take internet-based card payments and move into the 21st century but her response indicates that it is already up and running.
I feel such a fool, fancy not knowing about wi-fi.
If any of the market traders happen to be connected to the Market Hall wi-fi system would you be kind enough to use it to post a reply?

Perhaps one of you has been sniffing the drugs, poppers, that are openly on sale in the Market Hall.
Only one of you can be correct.
The other one's obviously off their market trolley.
We'll wait with bated breath.

Re: Market Hall Refurbishment
A narcissist will never accept he is wrong.
Any failures will be blamed on others, even those who supported him in a failed venture will be attacked by him when a venture fails. He is using them as his sychophants to obtain the praise and prestige he considers is his right.
Loyalty to others is not on his menu.
The Market Hall may well be his 'Rubicon' unless he successfully unloads all blame on Cllr. Haworth. I have no doubt he will try.
