Its only the shrubs that used to be at the foot of the new staircase...in front of the glass bits to stop folk walking into them, you've seen them before

I hope they realise that leaving a christmas tree up after twelfth night is seen as a very unlucky omen.

Re: Market Hall Refurbishment
Why?????? is he giving them all a rebate on their rent...seeing as he has such a great underspend?
Going round the market yesterday, traders we spoke to said that things had been dire since before Christmas.

Re: Market Hall Refurbishment
And as for the 'Trial period' of six day opening of the Market Hall....well some trial period that is, when the council put up great stonking signs advertising the Market Hall to be open from Mon - Sat.......and these went up before the trial was audited.
Doesn't that say something?

Re: Market Hall Refurbishment
Not at all, Marg. Honest.
It'll be interesting to see just what answers we get at next week's full council regarding this. I have asked for a free vote, one from each trader, asking whether they want to continue six day trading beyond January 2011. If the Conservatives reject the vote then I think that might give us some cause to query just how many traders have said they're in favour of the wonderful idea.

It would seem that leaving a Christmas tree up, is almost as unlucky as having an Accrington post code then.

Cheers John.
To my mind, this is a simple case of right and wrong and we councillors should be listening to the people who actually know what they're doing and working with that information to improve the Market Hall. We've been told repeatedly by Cllr Haworth that the majority of traders are in favour of six day trading although I have to say that I find that more than a little unbelievable. However, if that is true then there is absolutely no reason why the Conservatives should be worried that the traders will vote against it.
I'm giving them a golden opportunity to prove me wrong.

Well you can take a horse to water but you can't make it drink, the only people who can attest to whether Wednesday has been a success or not are the people who actually make a living out of the market, end of story, if the majority are in favour let each one say so, not second hand hearsay and if your wrong be big enough to hold your hand up

Yesterday the CEO of BP met President Putin in Moscow, about the new BP/Rosneft oil deal, and they still had a big Christmas tree all lit up in the background.
Not a good omen for a successful outcome.

Think they use a different calendar and they celebrate the Nativity on 7th January?

I noticed that, a bit bourgeois isn't it. What ever happened to the picture of Lenin.
