Market Hall U-turn.

In a surprising development reported in the Observer this week it seems that the Idiot-in-Chief has had a change of heart and is no longer determined to sell off the family silver in the shape of the Market Hall.

He claims that HBC could not find the right partner to do business with.

It seems to me that rather than being unable to find the right partner he has finally come to realise that HBC would not profitfrom the sell off by anything like the amount that had been promised, and that pulling the plug now is not saving the market for the people so much as an exercise in damage limitation.

So it is goodbye to the investment of millions in the Market Hall. HBC have decided to set aside the princely sum of £15,000 for much needed improvements - a laughable amount which would not even pay for a feasibility study into a new coat of paint.

Of more interest and concern to hard pressed rate-payers should be the scandalous amount of money spent by Britcliffe's administration in pursuit of this aborted sell off.
