Re: Medical Centre ?

There was always a set of traffic lights round about there on Blackburn Road so they are just replacing the old ones. Suppose they are a neccessity on Paradise Street as well or people would never get across. The traffic is constant all day.

Has there been a petition? If not why don't you get one going.

Have you been recently, Panther?

I have been going there since I was a young child and have never had any cause to complain. However, our dentist has recently left the practice and gone private so our family has been placed with other dentists at the practice.

In the last 6 months both my husband and my mum have had terrible experiences there at the hands of two different dentists who botched up.

My mum had her crowns loosened on one side during a basic extraction. This caused an infection to set in and her face swelled up like Desperate Dan. Had to get manager to put it right. Took months.

My hubby went to the same practice last week, different dentist, for a filling. This dentist used latex gloves despite him telling her of his latex allergy. Thankfully it's not fatal so he's still alive.

He had to ask her for an injection for the filling, don't think she was going to bother. Probably because she didn't know what she was doing. She faffed around putting the needle in, pulling it out, twisting it about, for 20 minutes. He was in agony for the rest of that evening and the following day but thankfully ok now.

Whilst he was in reception there was a guy complaining about the dentist who my mum saw. This guy had gone in for a filling, the dentist had slipped with the drill and made a hole in the next tooth!
He had come back for that to be made right and filled but they were trying to charge him and wanted payment up front.....for rectifying their error!

All this is too much. I can't risk my kids being seen by these incompetents and one of them having a bad experience....that's how phobias start.
I'm looking for another dentist for us.

Sorry to scare anyone who is registered there and hasn't been for a bit but it makes me really mad that these things have happened and I wonder how many others have had a bad experience there.

Re: Medical Centre ?

Think you should warn people Lilly especially if they have got children which Panther has. It could save their kids being traumatised.

Re: Medical Centre ?

Lilly, I hope you have put in a Complaint naming and shaming those concerned. I know I would.

My mum complained and the Group Manager was brought from Manchester to look at the damage to her crowns. She got an apology from the manager and the re-work done by another dentist (who has now left) for free. The dentist in question is still there though and from what my hubby heard in reception last week, he hasn't improved his techniques.

Name the dentist, it could well help others avoid what your family have had to endure. A trip to the dentist is harrowing enough when the dentist is competent.
