Re: Met any famous people?

fame is a funny thing ,you can be famous in one place and unknown in another , a few years back I was in a bar in Toronto during 'happy hour' the place was busy and these two old gents came over and asked if we minded them sharing our table , ....."no problem , sit down" a few minutes later folks begin coming over and asking one of the old gents if he would give them his autograph , he obliged and away they went , this happened another 4 or 5 times , finally I leaned over and said , "excuse me , but are you someone famous" the one who had be signing the autographs said , " well some people do " me ......." well who are you then " the other old wrinkly then chips in "this is Mr Lawrence Welk " another blank look from me , I had never heard of the guy , seems at one time during the 60s and 70s the guy had the number one musical entertainment show on North American television.
nice old chap , years later I've watched his TV shows in re-runs and are they are pure smaltz , polkas and accordians .........

On august 2, 1988 spend the day working in the White house (Oval Office, Cabinet Room, and Press Room). The Republican National Committee was doing some media segments with Ronald Reagan. He was a very genuinely nice chap.

forgot about him , met him in the Souk/Bazaar in Isfahan (Iran) in 76 , between his stint as Gov. of California and running for President a couple of years later .

The people I have met have been quite nice, Celia Imrie, Frank Carson, Lenny Henry, Phil Cool and Peter Shilton..

The Corrie crowd can be seen frequently in Manchester Restaurants.
