Talking Mini Scooper/Italian Job

Throw of dice costs Mayor £12,000 - News - Accrington Observer

Well.. I cannot believe that this thread hasn't been started yet

Mr Dobson must be lapping it up after the heart wrenching piece on the front page of the Observer yesterday. Nearly brought a tear to my eye . Talk about floating your own boat. My favourite part is a quote from PB...

"Tony has given his all during his Mayoral year and has always gone that extra mile with his fund-raising events. This is no exception and it's typical of his generosity that he has donated such a fabulous prize from his own pocket."

It's nice to see how the whole sham has been played down by both PB and TD.

What drivel.. he didn't expect anyone to win. PB hasn't once mentioned in his quote that only a couple of days early he was, and more than likely still is furious about this whole sham (as he didn't know about there being no insurance) and has played the whole thing down as it would not only effect TD but also his own cartoon show. Nor does any of them mention that TD asked if he could use money from elsewhere for his c*ck up but PB told him no chance basically it's your mess you pay the consequences and pay out of your own pocket .

I'll give them their due they are both smart at turning bad situations into one's they can benefit from especially with budgets and elections approaching. If TD was that generous he could have said he'd donate the money to charity as that was what the evening was about. No wonder PB and TD are in the jobs they are in if they just turn the blind eye and b*ll**** people to believing things that aren't true.

Gambling eh ? I bet he was gutted when someone won, but having said that it's not too difficult to throw 4 sixes, should have looked at the consequences a little better shouldn't he !

Re: Mini Scooper/Italian Job

From an un-political point of view I am quite impressed that he paid up. £12000 of his own money. Not many people would do that.

He may be a bit of a "silly cow" for doing it in the first place but he did pay up.

Doubt it prob, a mis-quote as the event was sponsored by Bowker BMW.

Very true.. I wish I had a spare £12,000.. I wouldn't mind but I've been looking at buying a mini myself and went into Bowkers @ Blackburn last week for a few booklets. If I'd have known about this going on I would have but a shed load of tickets Lol

.. gutted!!

Well.. there's always next year.. I'll give Pam a wink and a nudge

Where's that info come from?

Ironic that his year as Mayor has raised £11k for charity, but if he'd just donated the £12k for the car instead of running all those events, he could have just sat back and done nothing.

What I don't understand is why he suddenly decided to reduce the number of dice from six to four? Had he, perchance, been overindulging in the champagne?
