Re: money no object

theres that many road sighns to read these days and that many dollops of orange crap dumped on the roads with various speed limits and directions by the time they have been examined its a wonder no one has crashed

dot get me started on cycle lanes , wot a waste of time and money and thats coming from a cyclist who dosnt think he should get any preference on the roads simply because i dont have to tax and insure a push bike

wkd_one I cycle a lot along with my daughter but until the police stop roasting us for using a pavement we will use the roads and cycle lanes. I would pay a form of tax and insurance if it gets people of our backs. Think what happens if a push bike hits a pot hole as opposed to cars and then you might have a better understanding. Blame govenment they try to get us fit and cars of the road and we are still in the wrong. Oh and I have driven in the past and see argument from both sides.

Re: money no object

We live most of the time in Camden, and we have cycle lanes everywhere. Many of them are double cycle lanes, which I think are downright dangerous - if you don't know the area and you're trying to turn right, you don't expect cycles coming from the wrong direction. It's only a matter of time before somebody gets badly hurt or killed. Although we have such wonderful cycle lanes, cyclists still ride on the other side of the road and often on the pavement. I have nearly been hit stepping off my own front step. I do think cyclists should be insured, and that they should pay something towards the upkeep of the roads and particularly cycle paths.
