Re: Mongolian Restaurant
Well I had a look there tonight.
We hadn't booked and the place was booked up but I managed to sweet talk the waitress into letting us in!!
No Zebra or Kangaroo on the menu but plenty of Pork, Beef, Lamb or Chicken.
Its £11.95 a head, £1.80 for a portion of boiled rice. You get a free starter in with the price.
Its just like Chinese and Thai food really, all the same sauces and cooked in woks.
here's what you do at the one at Ossy as there not too good at telling you
Get to your table and they will bring your starter and any drink you ordered
For the main meal you go to the counter, you get a divided dish, you place the meat in one side and all your veg in the other, you can have Mushrooms, brocolli, sweetcorn.button mushrooms, salad, cucumber, spring onion, carrot, beansprouts, peas there's probably a few more that I have missed.
There is a list of sauces on the board 1 - 20 i think, you write your table number down on a peice of paper then select a clothes peg with the sauce number on. Hand all these to the chef to cook, you can watch him cook it if you like. It will then be brought to your table.
You can go back as many times as you like, I went twice, had king po sauce 1st time then red thai chilli 2nd.
Cost us £36 for 2 with drinks
Beware though, it gets really hot in there, I couldn't get out the door quick enough as it was that warm
Place is open Tue to Sun 12:00 - 14:00 and 18:00 - 11:30
You have to book, phone No's are

Re: Mongolian Restaurant
It sounds really good and a bargain for the price. I don't think they'll make money on the night me and my husband go as 'all you can eat' is his favourite type of food.

The restaurant is called Ger-Hana Willow.
I too went last night K.S.H must have gone later then you. We'd booked for 10pm. I was disapointed that you don't get a choice of starter, and also that the price of £11.95 per head doesn't include rice. Thought £1.80 per portion of rice was a bit steep.

No they don't have a kids menu Gayle, but she could have her meat cooked in BBQ sauce.

Re: Mongolian Restaurant
My new "acquaintance" [that's where I've been for the last week....] went to the Restaurant last week;he enjoyed it and said it was heavily Chinese influenced. He liked the fact that you could go back for more but was disappointed to see no Yak on the menu .

Re: Mongolian Restaurant
Do they serve a cup of very strong black tea with rancid butter stirred into it? I understand this is the true Mongolian beverage.
I think I will have to make a visit "home" to West End to try this. I've eaten a wide variety of cuisine, in various parts of the world. Fillipino, in Saudi Arabia, was interesting. I had a fish that was something like a kipper but far more delicious, and number 21 on the menu was - well, the waiter said "English don't like this", we assumed it was dog - but I've never had Mongolian.
Mind you, I won't be happy unless the chef is wearing a furry hat and a sheepskin "weskit" and comes in riding a small shaggy horse.
