Mosque at Ground Zero
I came across the following this morning. I can't fault the logic of it!
"I am perplexed that so many of my friends are against a mosque
being built near Ground Zero. I think it should be the goal of every
American to be tolerant. The mosque should be allowed, in an effort
to promote tolerance.
That is why I also propose that two gay nightclubs be opened
next door to the mosque thereby promoting tolerance within the
mosque. We could call the clubs "The Turban Cowboy" and "You Mecca Me
So Hot".
Next door should be a butcher shop that specializes in pork
and have an open barbecue with spare ribs as its daily special.
Across the street a very daring lingerie store called "Victoria Keeps
Nothing Secret" with sexy mannequins in the window modeling the
goods.
Next door to the lingerie shop, there would be room for an
Adult Toy Shop (Koranal Knowledge?), its name in flashing neon lights,
and on the other side a liquor store, maybe call it "Morehammered"?"
Might be tasteless and not very PC, but makes the valid point that tolerance is a two way process!

Re: Mosque at Ground Zero
Perhaps a tad extreme ? Do you really need two gay bars ? Couldn't they slip in a bookies or a cat house instead ?

There are tolerant Muslims.
Just as there are Christian nutters.

These are not christians they are just redneck bigots
when I said tolerance was a one way ticket, I actually made a point in fun on the entertainment thread put on by kate, with regards to catholics, I asked, tongue in cheek, what the response would be if the play title had have been Muslim instead of catholic

....and demonstrate at funerals of soldiers killed in Afghanistan, arguing that it is a punishment from God for the US being too tolerant of gays!

Re: Mosque at Ground Zero
You've got to wonder about America, really. My personal feeling is that a mosque at Ground Zero is in particularly bad taste and smacks of extraordinarily poor judgement in the name of equality.
'We must all exercise tolerance, unless there's a bit of oil up for grabs. Great Britain, you fancy coming along?' Someone tell Obama there's oil under North Korea, or Zimbabwe, or Palestine.
The problems would be 'resolved' by first post Tuesday.
