Me, although hate cooking, would have loved my son, grandaughter, daughter and brother to come and help eat this piece of beef I have bought. A day around the dinner table listening to them all chat as a family (and they do chat believe me) would have been my best present.

Well, you all good company, that's for sure Would ease my guilt for the 16% food we apparently waste .. (according to statistics this week.) I am as guilty as the rest of the population (sorry digression alert). Might even get rid of that Plum wine son brought me back from Eden Project.
Think of you all as a sort of family extension now ... is that violins playing in the background ?

You feeling neglected Tadah; to be honest, think the usual eating holes will be fully booked .. will just have to let your fingers do the walking.
Think one of our foreign restaurants may not be as booked up as the others e.g. Balti Stan down Clayton .. good food, and the proprietor always respectful to our traditions. Apart from that, not a clue, sorry.

Re: Mother's Day.
I think it's too commercial but it didn't stop me going for a meal, last night, with son and daughter-in-law to the local Turkish restaurant - their treat. The food there is to die for! Cards and gifts this morning, to make the awful weather outside (gales and hail and it's freezing cold) seem a bit less depressing.
Hope you enjoyed Whitby, Margaret. I lived there for 6 years in the 1960s, one of the best places in England, and I loved it. Oh, but there's no village called Aidensfield. They film it in Goathland.

Re: Mother's Day.
Chris got up with the kids this morning (he does every Sunday though) and I had a lie in. Then at about 9.30 they piled in with cards and presents and flowers. Both had done stuff at school and with my mum last week and with the childminder on thursday so had two cards from each of them, fantastic designed candles, pictures and paper flowers in a flower pot - plus real flowers and some spending money to buy a new outfit from Chris because he's been working a lot these last two weeks and got tons of overtime. So spoilt rotten so far.
