Music and Ads
Carrying on the TV theme as anyone noticed the number of telly ads these days are using 60s music to promote their products. The Monkeys Dusty Springfield, The Ventures are but a few which are doing the rounds. However there is one pushing Matalan featuring Mel Sykes called Louie Louie, can't for the life in me think who recorded it, any ideas?

Re: Music and Ads
I'll second that rishton blue.I personally find annoying those ads that feature songs, mainly from the 60's & 70's,that seem to be sung by a class of schoolkids.

Re: Music and Ads
the kinks the kinks the kinks!!!!
It's their version on the ads.
Though the original is by The Kingsmen...I think. Though it was written about ten years before their version!

Re: Music and Ads
I've got a version of Louie Louie by The Kinks on CD.
Have I been lied to by those nasty record label people?

I stand corrected. But the more i think about it,the more i imagine Ray Davies' singing it.Are the vocals & lyrics more decipherable on the Kinks version?

Re: Music and Ads
The Kinks' version is pretty good and follows the Kingsmen's version quite closely, mumbled lyrics and all. However, the best version is Richard Berry & the Pharaohs' original from 1956.
