Glad to hear its worked out for you Lindsay, Barclays is a decent employer though and there are lots of opportunities to move into other things like IT where the pay is very good and teh hours/conditions... well, check out my thread about teh conditions here

I remember a time when people said bank workers would never be made redundant - then they started closing down branches all over the place and disposing of staff left right and centre.

Aye, but I believe those days are over now. rationalisation happened as a lot of banks had far too many branches to be economically viable. With the focus on shareholder value encouraged by the Chancellor these had to be pruned. We now seem to be in a period where the focus is back on people/ecological value with teh benefits of a streamlined network.

You only have to look at teh ads now as Banks rarely try and sell you a definitive product, more a "look at how green/customer focussed etc we are!"

Should be back open again tomorrow (Thurs) I am off for the day so i really don't know any times etc;it's all dependent on info from Head office and getting a float back into the tills ! Don't be all disheartened 'cos it all still looks the same; ....we haven't had any new stock in a fortnight and all we have done is stock take and clean up a bit! Changes happening soon hopefully,already we have been told of better wages and no uniforms plus extra days holiday!
